Chris had posted on OS that video game sales are down 30% this year. That doesn't really shock me. The Wii had shown tremendous sales but have offered no big games at all this year. The PS2 sales are drying up and yet the console makers haven't delivered a price cut at all to get the masses moving on the next gen systems. Knock another $100 off each of those consoles and watch the hardware AND software sales fly through the roof!

Madden is the biggest game sold almost every year. Sony is rumoured to be bundling Madden with a PS3 slim version. Could be very smart to jump start PS3 sales in North America. Sony may win Europe and Japan but MS is kicking their butt in North America.

And no offense to our friends across the pond and the lake, but the North American sales are where gaming is now. Japan and Europe could go down and sales would be impacted globally, but all these companies would remain in a smaller capacity since the USA sales would keep them afloat. The North American market is the juggernaut now.

PS3 and 360 are both likely to get a price cut this fall. PS3 is releasing a new model as well.

NCAA sales are down for what EA was expecting. Peter Moore actually says in this article that he thinks the hype over Madden might be hurting it. Or that it's because of the college football season still being weeks away. I tend to think Madden hype is doing it and/or people aren't blown away by NCAA 10.

I still haven't gotten much interest in NCAA Football and it isn't because of Madden. One of my reasons for it is that the college football season is still a month away.
