It worries me though. This might be the best year ever to buy Madden, since the game could very well go back in an arcade direction next year.
I sure hope not.
Iirc.....Ian has stated he wants to take the franchise into a more sim-like direction.

I believe the sales will show (hopefully) that you CAN make a game more sim like and it won't affect the bottom line.
I still believe this is the biggest turnaround in franchise history, and I don't see the sales dropping because of it.

One thing to remember...Peter Moore likes to base the success off of Metacritic, and if this game rates high(which I'm sure it will)...he SHOULD see no reason to change the direction the franchise is heading.

You're assuming reviewers want a sim game. That isn't necessarily true. I expect to see a lot of the complaints we're seeing from Os'ers voiced by reviews from sites like IGN.

All By Myself

OK I went to OS and only lasted ten posts in one thread that talked about why the hate and I did notice most had a recent 2009 join date and hated on everything, so my question is are the youngsters who only know the internet more qualified to critique a game then those that grew up with the internet not being a focal point of their raising and DLC and patches not an option.

I don't see Ian changing the direction of the game BACK to arcade just because some people bitch that they do things that are unrealistic.

ESPN 2k sold pretty well for a game trying to be a SIM. Madden felt pretty good back in the PS2 days. It wasn't a total cheese fest.

This is the thing. Most of these people bitching are younger online players. They'll get over it and find a new way to play with a cheese factor OR be forced to learn how to play and LOSE A GAME.

OS has gotten a lot more traffic and lot bigger which is good since the site gains more exposure. Its obviously got credibility now with developers posting there on a fairly frequent basis. The problem is now the new people coming in aren't very cool and it's caused some of the guys that were on the fringe of being assholes, turned into ones now.

Banning people won't help too much since those people will just come back with a new name. Even if you IP Ban then most can wait a few days or reboot the modem to acquire a new IP. Thus you still have to deal with the jackhats. The problem is that the majority of posters AND people in our society are selfish whiny bitches who are never happy with anything. They can't treat others with much respect. This is why when I visit OS I only post in the supporters forums now. At least the guys there are from the old days and are still cool - thankfully.

I think Madden will rate well this year. Remember some of the review sites have said that the game could be a little more SIM based. The graphics upgrade alone will win them a point or two depending on the individual reviewers.

Steve's Preview:

Steve is talking about the CPU sliders. That maxed out or at dead 0 should equal horrible or unstoppable. I agree on that. Which is why I don't get the HATE in the NCAA 10 threads about the sliders being to sensitive! That's what we want. We want extremes so we can tailor games to our liking. Having more control and customizations doesn't hurt a game.

Now that being said, 0 for pass accuracy slider shouldn't be every throw is missed since even the worst QBs that play in the NFL are around 50%.

As for the rest of the game. The HUMAN pass rush sounds like it could be the only real issue.

I hope like hell that if EA Tiburon tweaks the Sliders they make them more sensitive like NCAA.

It was a nice preview. He talked about the good and bad.
