I absolutely CANNOT wait!!
I'm really seeing alot of cool stuff in the demo.

I played a game earlier, and Romo was going to the endzone, and I noticed the ref has fallen down...so I watched the replay, and the ref actually hit Phillips of the Giants (me) and fell down.....as the ball sailed over the receivers head,he got up and gave the imcomplete signal.

I'm also really digging the fight for the fumble thing....I think this will really add some tension in bigger games,I suck at it  ....but damn if it ain't cool.

I like when my receiver gets jammed at the line,it really throws off the timing, and forces me to look elsewhere..if he can't fight through it.
There's an actual wedge on kickoffs, like I mentioned earlier...it's cool to see the coaches chew out a player.

DAMN..c'mon Aug 14th

I'm off work today after having a very late night due to my wife's back troubles (went to hospital, took morphine which did nothing, etc) but I did sneak a game in this morning of the 5 minute demo! I scored a code Sunday night and haven't been able to play it yet.

I think the graphics on the 360 demo were better. Hard to say but I think the PS3 demo was just a little dark and not quite as crisp as Hank's 360. I'm sure Hank will say it was his TV that made it look better.

I still don't like the game speed. It's just too slow for my tastes (I will probably boost it at least one notch if not two) but at least the 5 minute demo allows you to actually play the game! I took the Steelers and won 31-17. The game is very polished and smooth. The slower pass speeds (not just speed setting) and momentum make it much easier to play defense than in NCAA 10 which I felt was nearly impossible to manually defend the pass. The camera is still not what I like. It's still a little too low for my tastes and pans a bit (not as bad as NCAA 10) but there are three cameras I can try. Just can't try them in the demo.

I found the deep balls to be better this time around. I was just putting too much lob on them when I was at Hank's. I think the pass speeds are pretty good and seem realistic for the most part. The Pro-tak is really smooth and adds a lot of realism without feeling cheesy. The broken tackles and fight for yardage is good. Gives the game a very organic feeling. The fact that 3-9 guys can be involved makes it better than the old school 2 man gang tackle.

I was able to see more team specific plays in the Steeler playbook. It was also nice to use the 3-4 playbook. Rushing the passer as a DL is still something that I struggle with. Unfortunately it's been confirmed that you still can't speed rush around the OT without fully engaging him. That has always been an EA weakness while the 2K engine did this very well. I noticed when using the Steeler DL that just pushing down on the stick (bull rush as opposed to left/right - special move) seemed to work better and I was able to work towards the QB and make moves at the same time.

I did hit a couple nice plays to the corner of the end zone. I've seen inaccurate passes as well. I broke a long run with fast Willie for a TD. The cpu did not manage the clock that well. At the end of the first half on their own 32 and 6 seconds left, they chose to go for it on 4th down rather than punt it. I got the ball back with 1 second left and a 49 yard FG attempt. Going for it there doesn't make a lot of sense but not horrible as they probably thought they could milk the clock. Still, too risky.

I will say the Madden team and NCAA team have different ideas for default. I like the Madden defaults better - more broken tackles, kicks aren't as over-powered.

There are times when I still feel the engine is very similar. The defense does hide some stuff pre-snap but there are times when you can clearly identify zones and/or blitzes based on how they line up. That's not so bad because my pre-snap reads weren't always correct. I'm going to play this game some more. I think they should have tried to include some commentary in the game. Seems hollow without it. Right now I like the demo but I personally haven't been blown away. I'm hard to please though. ;)

Glad to hear you got a download code!

At least you can get some time to play the demo with quality quarters. :)

Think that you'll at least rent Madden 10 when it comes out?

I hope that your wife is doing fine today........that sucks.

Yeah, its the 360.......Ted and I have had this talk about many multi platform titles where the 360 graphics are much brighter and have pop, while the PS3 ones are most of the time darker. It's rather interesting, but we both have also noticed this the last few years with full retail titles too.
