Well-I got this game for my B-Day present. Hmmmm-So here I am with it thinking "what the hell, if it sucks I will trade it in for Madden". I ripped the plastic off-d/l'd the update and here's my very quick take on this game- I love it! For starters, I really like the lock player feature-The new camera is fine for me and the graphics look pretty spiffy on my PS3. I really like the different views on player lock and hope Madden has that. I lock on to all kinds of different positions when playing D. I always wanted a game where I could just play the parts I wanted. Example: I like passing as the qb but don't like playing the receiver position-fixed. I just lock it on the qb and let it roll from there. Same with running-I like to just hand off and let the rb's cpu generated stats take over, so to speak. I have always been in the middle of wanting to just coach and kinda play at the same time. I have that this year. I also love the way you can mix up jersey's this year. There are probably 20 different combos for Oregon's jerseys(even though I don't use them) this is good for anyone who likes mixing that aspect up, like me. this is one gift I think I will be using for quite awhile. When Madden drops, I don't think I will trade this one in. I want to play both this year. I will just have to play less of other "important" games to fit in my ultra busy lifestyle. 48 combos for Oregon, not counting shoes/socks (3 helmets, 4 jerseys, 4 pants).
The only thing I don't necessarily like about player lock is I feel like I miss things. If the CPU player makes a great catch on the sideline, and I'm a LB, I can't really see it (which is a lot like real life, though).
I'm sticking with this game, and getting Madden, because I used to be an NFL guy, but the last two years, I've played more NCAA. Madden looks great this year, but I'm not banking on it capturing my attention too much. It'll be nice on Madden this year though, as it's really been three years (Madden 07 on original Xbox) since I got anywhere in a franchise, so I probably won't get bored playing with the Jags.

Who are your online dynasty teams and how are you guys doing?
I'm THE Ohio State
George is Illinois
So we're both in the same conference and play against each other in week 4.

Sometimes on long runs or bombs you do miss some up close action, but if it is that great of a play, the ole' replay is my friend Nonetheless-I really like the new angles you get from the lock cam. I'll sometimes lock into one the db's when I think a big pass is coming up, then I don't miss much. Madden has some good size shoes to fill this year IMO-I look forward to that also. My real only nitpick besides the lackluster presentation/audience interaction is the amount of run backs from a kickoff the Ai can pull off. Especially with a super team. This is fixed by "supersim" during a kickoff. good game EA!

I shouldn't have read your impressions, now I'm intrigued by this game , I feel the same about the passing game I like being the QB but not the receiver and I'd like to stay locked on as the RB from time to time. I do like that you can mix and match the unis. nice to have you back posting Coffee. But Dawdler, I'm your "one stop shop" for the straight up lowdown on video gaming goodness

Coffee,
George and I agree with you on the Kickoff Returns. It's like the AI's special teams are super human and then your own is kind of blah.
