I did some searching for AA's impressions and while most of them are very positive, here is what stands out to me: "-There is no pass rush..at all. Sure..you'll have a play every 13-14 snaps where a D lineman might get through, but the other 12 snaps the CPU will have time to eat a sandwich, take a final, call his girlfriend, wave to his mom, contemplate his future, and pay his cell phone bill before anyone touches him. -The only glaring issue I've seen in close to 8 hours of solid gameplay is the complete and total lack of a pass rush. The front four is pretty much ineffective on pass plays. -The. Sliders. Don't. Work. -I'd say 90% of people's frustrations with "Robo QB" on Heisman this year is because of zero pass rush. When the patch comes out, if we get a viable pass rush to where the CPU QB has 3 seconds instead of 9 seconds to throw the ball...Percentages will go WAY down IMO. -For me, that is what it is boiling down to. A powerful, working set of sliders could really put this game over the top for me. I've played enough to know that the CPU is much smarter in playcalling and that the game is much more balanced "Offense/Defense" wise. The only issue is the skewed advantage to the CPU on the Line of Scrimmage. Fix that and this game is Solid Gold" He does go on to say that the CPU AI is the best that he has ever seen. There is a bug where some option pitches that are fumbled but are ruled as incomplete passes. I am assuming that can be patched. I think what has me holding out so stubbornly on this game is my absolute anger that the 2 single biggest problems in last year's game, pass rushing and broken sliders, are no better than the clusterf**k we got last year. How can this happen? It seriously boggles my mind and yes, makes me very angry. I have been a loyal NCAA buyer for over 12 years and I just can't fathom how a company like EA can let this happen again unless they either A. don't think it's an issue or B. don't care enough to fix it. Again, if the patch fixes these 2 problems I will be getting this game and playing the hell out of it. If not, I am a former NCAA Football customer. |

I'm pissed off at some of the stupidity with the NCAA team as well Jim. Broken sliders and pass rush like you said after they were screwed up last year. Rosters broken at release. A buggy demo. New stuff that Madden is getting (presentation, additional sliders for fatigue, injuries, fumbles, speed, signature QB styles and new accuracy ratings) that NCAA isn't. A new camera most don't like. But at the end of the day the game could be better and a lot of fun. We don't know yet. My problem with AuburnAlumni is that he focuses too much on the DL play (since he always plays as a DL) and ignores some other stuff like the lack of a cpu running game. I do like the fact the cpu throws deep and is supposed to have better game management and play calling. |

Adam responded and apologized for the lousy crowd chants this year (the defense one is really bad).

I have been watching some videos of the retail version and I must say they have been pretty darned impressive. I hear you about the improvements, too Rudy. It's obvious that they are there. The lack of a DL pass rush is huge to me because it is a fundamental part of the game. A good DL can absolutely control the game. Not so in the last 2 NCAA games. It's especially hard for me because I do a lot of CPU vs. CPU in my dynasty. I don't have too much time to play so I like to recruit, set the game plan and see what my boys do on the field. As we both saw in the video you requested, there is absolutely no DL pressure in CPU vs. CPU games. I watched some of PastaPadre's videos and he was doing the player lock thing on some of his defensive plays. That looks pretty cool as well. Like I said, fix the pass rush and sliders, and I am in. Is this patch being released soon supposed to address both of those issues, Rudy? |

Team prestige ratings: http://www.osatwork.com/forums/showthread.php?t=333883 Utah is a freaking 5! (Jim, I'm going to have to re-read this thread at home where I can actually see all the posts. Sorry). Edited by Rudy, Jul 13 2009, 02:45 PM.
