The bowl games are really messed up in my first year. I've never seen something so bad. UCF is playing WVU for the national Championship. WVU went undefeated but UCF? No way they should have been picked over one loss Ohio State or Illinois (they get the Rose Bowl). Bama was the SEC champion at 11-2 and the Pac 10 champion was Washington at 9-3 (7-1 conference)! The ACC was down but you can't bring in UCF. I don't know how that happened. In 09 it was awful tough to move up the rankings if you didn't start in the Top 25. I was 8-2 with Miami and was still unranked for crying out loud. |

Miami (8-5) vs. #19 Kansas St. (9-3) Humanitarian Bowl This was played on Boise's field but Nessler announced this bowl game as the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl for some reason. It was a close game until the 4th quarter. I threw a pick (what else is new but it was the only one on the day) in the first quarter to set up a TD for K-St. I was down 7-3 before I had a nice couple of plays to get a TD. A nice catch and run on one play and a nice cutback on the TD run. K-State had a horseshoe up their ass though. I was up 17-7 and they scored on a 15 yard TD run with 2 seconds left to cut it to 17-14 at the half. Then after I kicked a FG in the 3rd quarter to take a 20-14 lead, they ran a kickoff back for a TD. On my next possession they sacked Harris, forced a fumble and ran it back for a TD. Now Kansas St. is leading 28-20! I added a FG but they were up 28-23 going into the 4th quarter. That's where there luck ran out completely. Josh Freeman played well until the 4th where he threw 4 INTs including 2 returned for TDs! I scored 25 points in the 4th to turn this into a complete 48-28 victory!! I finish the year 9-5. West Virginia won it all but for some reason, my coach approval dipped. I'm slightly under 50%. On to recruiting! Stats for the Game: J.Harris 17-24, 207 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT (13 TD, 30 INT on the year), sacked 6 times (they blitzed a lot but I burned them on a screen) G.Cooper 24-87, 2 TD J.Freeman 19-34, 150 yards, 1 TD, 4 INT Valentine 17-73, 1 TD On a side note, I'm not sure I will be able to fully switch to the 3-4. My DTs look good for next year while my LBs are likely to be young. |

The Offseason Apparently a 9-5 record and bowl win isn't enough to impress the rank and file! Miami slips from a 5* program down to a 4* program. But this team looks loaded and is an A team right now. I have a lot of seniors and the OL will struggle next year when Jason Fox leaves. But if Jacory Harris can improve, this offense should be good. Speed to burn at receiver. The defense landed 3 4* OLB and a good MLB. Inexperience for sure but overall the defense looks really good. There are no real holes on this team. The schedule maker (me) didn't do this team any favours scheduling all 4 ooc games to be team ranked in the Top 10! Three of them will be at home (#7 Florida A+, #3 Ohio State A- and #2 Georgia A) while #4 Oklahoma A will be on the road. My recruiting needs are pretty simple. OL! I need a good infusion of young talent at every position and need a receiving TE on offense. For defense, I need some more MLBs but nothing else really pressing. Some youth at DE would be nice for the future. I will be running the Multiple D and showing different looks this year. |

Miami (0-0) @ #7 Florida (0-0) The EA football scheduler decided to make this a road visit! Both teams are highly rated and boast 99 rated defenses! And the defenses did not disappoint. Both defensive squads ran an INT back for a TD and knocked around the other team's QB. Check out this hit by Brandon Spikes on my TE. Tim Tebow has left for the pros and so Brantley attempted to run the offense. But he threw 4 INTs on the day and was sacked 5 times. The rushing attack went nowhere. Miami's offense wasn't much better. Jacory Harris threw two first quarter INTs, one of which was returned for a TD on a well sniffed out screen pass. Javarris James won the starting RB job in summer camp and broke two long TD runs on the day. One was 50 yards and the other 83 yards (check out the hurdle and then watch James point to the crowd at the end of the run). But Florida's defense was tough all day. Harris was only 9 for 16 and 68 yards with 0 TDs, 2 INTs and 4 sacks. James did rush 20 times for 161 yards but that meant only 28 yards on 18 carries if you remove the two long TD runs. Miami only had 6 first downs and punted 6 times. Florida punted 7 times. Miami was 2-11 on third downs while Florida was only 2-12. The Miami defense effectively pitched a shutout as the Hurricanes won this game 27-7. Brantley was 22-34 for 227 yards but 0 TDs, 4 INTs and was sacked 5 times. The Multiple D flashed both 3 and 4 man lines and worked very well. This team could be special but the coaches don't think so as Miami did not crack the Top 25 despite beating #7 Florida in the swamp. The players will travel with a chip on their shoulders to Norman as they take on #4 Oklahoma on the road. Edited by Rudy, Aug 1 2009, 01:41 PM.

That sounds pretty crazy, but hey. Those small schools deserve a chance now. I'd love and i mean LOVE to see it happen in real life to throw all the NCAA Football peeps into a Tizzy. |
