I checked the standings and even though I lost to GT, they have one more conference loss. If I beat NC State I will face Clemson in the ACC Championship! I'm going to check OS for some custom stadium sounds for Miami. I should have done that sooner. |

Miami 8-3 @ NC State 4-7 If Miami wins they are in the ACC Championship against Clemson. A loss and all is up in the air. The Hurricanes traveled north for the game but apparently the defense wasn't on the bus. The defense played their worst game of the year and the worst half of the year in the first half against NC State. The Canes trailed 31-14 at the half with NC State having 15 first downs and 382 yards of total offense. They had 126 rush yards, 3 TDs and Beck was 14-15 in the passing game for 1 TD. I could have loaded many NC highlights but here is one TD pass. One highlight for me on a nice Cooper catch in the flat. I got within 7 points in the second half but could never stop NC State long enough to keep it there. I lost 45-31. My running game was really good today too and wasted. The defense sucked. Stats: J.Harris 13-22 136 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT G.Cooper 19-167 yards rushing, 2 TD J.James 5-25 NC State Beck 24-30, 374 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT Two impact RBs A.Brown 14-90 2 TDs J.Eugene 13-57 1 TD Cooper did go over 1000 yards rushing and 11 TDs on the year. Jacoby Harris passed for over 2000 yards but the TD/INT ratio was terrible. A 4* CB commits after the game. I now have 8 recruits in the bag but no OL or DL. |

As luck would have it, Virginia Tech won their game and I ended up in a 3 way tie with them and Georgia Tech at 5-3 in conference. And I go to the ACC Championship to face #24 Clemson! Team Rankings at the end of the regular season: Total Offense #10 but 55th in ppg at 29.6. #67 rush, #104 pass in yardage Defense was 25th overall, 22nd against the pass and 32nd against the run. Turnovers: -16 and #118!! |

Miami 8-4 vs. Clemson 9-3 for the ACC Championship This game started out well and then became an ugly, frustrating mess. About the only luck I had was on the opening drive where I scored first to take a 7-0 lead. I forced a pass in the end zone and had a pretty sweet ball bouncing result. But the forcing of passes continued as I threw 4 INTs in the first half with Jacoby Harris before he got benched. Two were returned for TDs. On the first TD return that gave Clemson a 14-7 lead, I should have made the tackle with the QB but blew it completely. The second TD return was a nice throw the receiver bobbled in the air, got hit and let another defender pick it off and take it to the house. My receivers made no plays either and were out fought for the ball. They had 7 drops on the day. The Clemson running attack was fine despite not having their two impact running backs all game. A freshman J. Harper and piled up 188 yards on 21 carries. He broke 10 tackles in the game. Here was a freshman FB subbing in and breaking a bunch of tackles on me to add to a frustrating day. Overall it was an ugly, ugly first half that saw Clemson up 38-7. They went on to win 51-10. That's three straight losses for me and the Hurricanes and I'm just forcing too many passes. I now have to play in the Humanitarian bowl against 9-3, #19 Kansas State. My coach approval rating has fallen to around 60%. Other stats: J.Harris 11-16, only 65 yards, 1 TD and 4 INTs R.Marve 13-27 115 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT G.Cooper 16 for 51 yards, J.James just 3 carries for 12 yards. Abandoned the running game eventually. Receivers had 7 drops, Benjamin had 3 including the one that led to a pick 6. Clemson's Cullen Harper was 9 for 9 and 3 TDs at one point. He finished 17-23, 162 yards and 3 TDs, 0 INT. |

My FS Ponder won the Thorpe trophy and Benjamin won the Returner of the Year award. Colt McCoy won the Heisman by only 2 points over Chase Daniel (1486 to 1484)! Bradford finished third. I'm looking forward to switching to a 3-4 next year. Also, if my 5* athlete is a good scrambling QB I may even consider running the spread for the first time in my video game football career.
