Virginia @ Miami (2-0)

This was an absolute ass kicking. I can't remember beating on the cpu this bad on Heisman before. I usually still struggle at times with the crappier teams and Virginia was a B+, 86 rated overall team (I'm a 92 rated A team, 99 on defense). They blitzed a lot and I made them pay with a ton of huge plays. I hit two flanker screens for long plays, hit a deep ball, had a long run, kickoff return for TD. That's all that I can remember in this 51-16 beating. I pulled all my starters halfway through the 3rd quarter as I had a 34-10 lead at halftime. My third string RB, RS freshmen Lamar Miller got 14 carries. My backup QB's name is Cannon Smith. What a great name for a QB.

This was all Miami and here are two big plays - a deep TD pass and a nice run for a long TD.

Jacory Harris felt a lot of criticism over his performances last year but was great in this one. He was just 9 of 13 but threw for 240 yards and 4 TDs with 0 INTs!!
G.Cooper 16-129, 1 TD
L.Miller 14-53
S.Shields 3 receptions for 79 yards and 2 TD
T.Benjamin 2 for 135 yards, 1 TD and kick return for TD

Virginia
Verica 28-37, 274 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT
Simpson 14-104, 1 TD (74 yard run to take only lead of game 7-3)

Combine Virginia's large amount of defensive blunders with the blitz and the offense going 1 for 11 on third downs and you get a spanking. Yet the Hurricanes still aren't in the Top 25!! I'm about 27 when looking at additional votes. Up next, the Ohio State!

I think this team could be special. But I don't have much depth at safety, the OL (only 9 players total on the roster) and at QB. I could overcome any one injury other than to Jacory Harris. My backup QBs are all rated in the 70s and it's the weakest spot on the team. I would probably burn the redshirt on my frosh QB if Harris went down for any significant time.

On another note, 2 of my 9 OL are true freshman. They were both 3* recruits that I picked up late in the recruiting process after failing on a few 4* tackles. One is a guard and the other a tackle but both came in rated at 70 or 71. Kind of surprised me. I think the guard has some nice potential. One thing I do look at when recruiting is awareness. A 4* recruit with A+ awareness won't have much potential or improve much. A 3* prospect with a C awareness might have some really good attributes and have much higher potential.

Rudy that was a WEE BIT of an ass kicking! I can't believe you did that to the CPU on Heisman.

^Well the sliders are in my favour. It's more of a between AA and Heisman difficulty set. I've just never had so many big plays in one game like that. Probably more than I had in my last 6 or 7 games combined to end last year. I am passing a bit more on first down as I tend to get too conservative and predictable. I do know the cpu tends to creep up more on first down.

It's a holiday in Ontario today (Civic holiday) so I'm off to the in-laws for lunch. Have slo-pitch tonight so I might not be able to get my game in with OSU today. NCAA doesn't do a great job of making scrambling QBs too dangerous. I hope Pryor doesn't prove me wrong in this next game which is huge.

#3 Ohio State (2-0) @ Miami (3-0)

Both teams defenses were better than the offenses and it showed big time in this game. OSU entered the game without Pryor due to a broken elbow which has sidelined him for the entire year. Herron was also hurt and out for two weeks. Looking good for Miami? Not really. Not when the OSU defense battered around the Miami offense all day.

OSU led Miami 6-0 after one quarter. Then Jacory Harris got hurt and will miss two weeks. The backup Cannon Smith came in and threw two pick 6's in the second quarter that led to a 20-0 OSU lead at one point. Here is one of the ugly plays for Miami.

The score at halftime was 23-3 for OSU. Could Miami battle back? Not likely unless the defense got some pick 6's of their own. The defense did play well in the second half picking off Bauserman twice but couldn't bring back any for scores. Here is one of the picks.

I'd love to show some offensive highlights but there was only 1 offensive TD in this game and it was a 1 yard plunge. I did have the ball in the 4th quarter with a 23-13 deficit but two more picks and three defensive facemask penalties killed me. I also lost a fumble in the game to have 5 total turnovers. The final score was OSU 26 Miami 13.

It was a very frustrating game. I couldn't do much on offense at all. OSU was all over my QB. They blitzed but I wasn't able to take advantage. My receivers just didn't get open or the OSU defenders jumped routes and caused trouble all day. I only had 11 first downs while OSU had 17. They were 5-15 on third down and I was worse. Absolutely no big plays on offense for me. Up next is a road game at Boston College.

Miami Stats
C. Smith 16-28, only 123 yards, 0 TD, 4 INT
J. Harris 2-6, 8 yards, out two weeks
G. Cooper 16-37, 1 TD (hard fought yards)
Moncur (DE) 6 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 sacks

OSU Stats
Bauserman 17-35, 151 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT
Saine 19-63 yards rushing, 0 TD
