Back to NCAA '09

I had fun going back and playing '09 with the two demo teams. One game ended up as my #3 best game of all time (1215 score I think although I forgot there was no autosave damn it!). A couple of the biggest reasons I quit playing '09 were the lack of a cpu deep pass but more importantly, the lack of a cpu rushing game. The sliders were so weak that it made it very hard to balance the cpu rushing attack with trying to get any semblance of a pass rush.

I ended up playing most of my games on Heisman since the AA QBs were so stupid and threw too many picks. On Heisman though you deal with robo QB. A couple people were trying to argue Varsity plays the best and towards the end of last year and now this year I've dabbled in a Varsity set and I swear the cpu rushing attack is possibly the best I've seen on any level. I also get a pass rush. Will it end up being too easy? Not sure.

I took Miami (86 overall) last night against Iowa (81) at home and beat them 31-6 on Varsity in my 3rd game since playing again. Shonne Greene actually had 26 carries for 126 yards against me. He was really good and the cpu kept giving him the ball despite the deficit. The one thing I do see in Varsity is that the speed gap seems to be wider than the other difficultly levels. I busted two long runs with Cooper at RB (94 speed). In the one game with Florida, Harvin busted two long runs off reverses or screen passes as well. I might have to play with this.

Our new setup in the basement was great with the surround sound though. Very nice.

It was really nice to see the cpu rush against me and I also got some nice pressure on their QB. Stanzi got hurt and never came back in for some reason. I sacked their QB a bunch of times (I wasn't playing as a DL) and the pass rush is nice on Varsity. Again, this might be too easy over time (have user awareness at 0, cpu awareness at 100) but even teams were pretty close.

Keep me posted on the Varsity thing. I'd love to see the cpu run the ball effectively. I'm probably going to be starting a new dynasty soon. Haven't decided which team though. I might go UNC or KSU.

It might just be rust DJ but I think part of it is that the blocking doesn't really change on any level. The OL never really fire out on any level. It's more about dumbing down your defense which you seem to be able to do better on Varsity. I think Varsity is a bit more open. It's weird. I might just be nuts.
