Risk It All

I used to abuse the trade system and Michael Vick in Madden 03.

Vick was magic for 4,000 passing yards and 2,000 rushing yards. It was pathetic and I abused it against my roommates. Then I traded players I didn't want for first rounders and had a great defense as a result. I admit it, I was that guy.

Of course, my roommates went on to have another franchise in 04 or 05 and one of them won like 10 straight Super Bowls by just chucking bombs to Randy Moss all day. I didn't play in that one. I was tired of Madden by then.

He also abused the 99 speed running back. You know, that guy with the 60 overall rating, but because he was 99 in speed you can just run a half back sweep and see daylight. Yep.

Speed certainly triumphed over power backs in many EA football games. 2K4 was completely different. Strong backs ruled in that game.

I got back into Madden for 03, and I too expoited the draft pick thing. I always had ten draft picks (the max) and they were normally all in the first four or five rounds. I would sign free agents just to trade them and get more draft picks (this was before signing bonuses were in the game).

03 and 04 were way too much offense. I loved 05, because it was the first game where you could stop great offenses (I had a friend who always used the Rams) and mobile qb's (friends that used Mike Vick and Donovan McNabb).

I found '05 too boring to play on defense and the lack of presentation really hurt after getting used to 2K. Even the in-game music sucked beyond belief. Dare I mention Al and John saying the same things every game?

I find it disturbing that so many of you are ashamed of exploiting trades with the CPU.
First off all, it's not exploitation. You, WE, are simply providing a need to many CPU controlled teams that are in need of valuable assets such as strong center's and nose guards. If they feel like giving up a 1st overall for such assets, who are we to deny them?
