No immediate return of the franchise which is hardly a shock: http://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216488

I saw this over on OS. I have to give those 2K guys credit, they are sticking with either a very old (2K5) or unlicensed game (2K8) far longer than I did. I've moved on a long time ago and NCAA '06 filled the void nicely.

2k8 isn't bad. It's just kind of season-ish game. I'm glad I have it though because he does play a damn good game of football.

I'm hoping that Madden really hits on what they are trying to do this year.

I tried APF 2K8 and gave up very quickly on it. The deep down graphics whore inside me found the PS3 version completely crap. That was NOT a next gen football game. It was about as next gen as popping in a PS2 version of Madden. While people may have like the game, the graphical quality on the PS3 was easily the worst of any game I've ever seen on the PS3. I think 2K4 and 2K5 looked as good and were as smooth on the PS2 as this game was on my PS3.

Then you combine the fact the game had all these generic players I didn't care about (with so little editing available too - couldn't even call the team the Miami Dolphins!), no franchise mode and a feeling of "been there, done that", I just couldn't help but feel like I got ripped off by buying the game. And I only spent about $35 on e-bay to get it. I sold it within a week. Never really gave it a fair shake as every time I popped it in, I felt pissed off for buying it.

It sucks you missed out on the 360 version which did feel and look much better than the PS3 version.

I hate to hear that. I enjoyed APF 2K8. It was something different besides playing NCAA and Madden. How many more years is the EA, NFL deal? It would be nice to have two NFL games to choose from again.
