I lost again and am now 6 games out of first after only 11 games. The Show has decided to punish me for being critical of the error system as I committed two throwing errors in the game, one of which cost me 3 unearned runs. I lost 7-2 after facing Roy Oswalt. He was aggressive on the mound and only a hanging curve ball to the awakening Jay Bruce was punished for a 2 run HR. I don't have a day off for awhile so I need a starter to work a little deeper or my pen will be toast. I'm going to use Cinci for awhile as I may want to restart the Tiger season with real rosters in a couple weeks. Taveras may be out of a job as leadoff man. No power and he's not a good hitter. Speed isn't enough. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I have been reading all your posts on your season Rudy . I check it out everyday before I go to work.I would really like to find the time to use 2 teams-Don't see it happening. The only way I could possibly pull that off would be to play shorter seasons and I'm not going to do that. I like the 162 game schedule and alot of different teams to go up against. I like the 162 game season as well. I'm going to devote the next month to Cinci exclusively I think. Who knows? What I do know is that Willy Tavares is a lousy hitter with no extra base pop to his bat and will no longer be my leadoff hitter! Too many managers just focus on speed when they set their leadoff hitter. I'm not a believer in small ball at the top of the order, particularly after reading Moneyball. I think he's perfect as the #7 hitter. If he gets on, maybe he can steal second and hope to get driven home from second by the #8 hitter before the pitcher gets up. I don't really have a great candidate for leadoff. Currently I have decided that Brandon Phillips will lead off for me. I may use Chris Dickerson as a leadoff hitter against righties but for now Phillips is the man full time. He's got terrible plate discipline in real life but he's got some pop in his bat and is a good hitter. Late in the game, I don't want Tavares bat in a crucial situation - I want a good hitter. |

Got two games in tonight against the Astros. I lost the first game 4-3 after scoring 3 in the first. Two base running gafs and a bunch of hard hits lined at infielders pissed me off. Then they hit three home runs and Tejada doubles home the winning run on a pitch 4-5 inches off the plate. I never uttered so many four letter words. That meant three straight losses to Houston to fall to 3-9. I hit Moeller hard in the next game for a 9-5 victory. Phillips had a swinging bunt down the third base line that he ran to second after the third basemen over ran the play. Then the 3B threw the ball away and Phillips scored. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
