I decided to make some minor tweaks to the sliders to see if I can get more walks by both sides. Beat Cubs 8-7. Duke got the win but the Show scoring screwed him. They actually scored a throwing error by Raburn with 2 outs but still counted the two runs allowed as earned. I don't get this game sometimes. Must say Wrigley Field is beautiful. I love playing there. |

Well I beat the Cubs 4-2 in the final game at Wrigley (Micah Owings picked up his 4th win this month and 5th in a row). Votto hit another HR and is still doing well. Beat the Padres 5-1 in game one of a new series. I was down 1-0 in the 6th and with 2 outs managed to score 4 runs. Jay Bruce and Larish homered for me. Not sure about my slider tweaks yet. Only one click mind you but the one I don't know about is the strike frequency. I dropped it from 1 to 0. I've sort of kept track of first pitch strikes and I'd say the cpu only throws about 40% of it's first pitches for strikes. It's noticeably lower at 0. The MLB average is around 57% although it does help me work the pitcher and get a few more walks. But the cpu tends to give in too much when falling behind. I've got 99 games in with the Reds and I'm starting to get the itch to start a new season with San Fran (but I'll wait for MLB 10 to do that). I got a trophy for 300 HRs (any mode). Not sure how I did that. Even with exhibition games I'm sure I'm under 150 games but maybe I did some batting practice or HR derby stuff last year. No clue. |

I've quit this season just after 100 games. Votto had 29 HRs. I have actually played a few Tigers exhibition games with Damon and had a lot of fun. In one of my last games with Cinci, Jay Bruce also got hurt diving for a foul ball. Broke something and is out 2 months. That meant my starting SS (Gonzo at time), 3B (Encarnacion), RF (Bruce) and super sub Hairston Jr all suffered injuries of roughly 2 months. Hairston was 6+ months. And Brandon Phillips had two long trips on the DL. Too many big injuries and not enough small ones. And not a single injury to my pitchers yet MLB has 25% of the pitchers spend time on the DL. Hopefully they will have more small injuries next year and less big ones. |
