The Reds take game 2 by a score of 5-1! The Reds have certainly been road warriors but have sucked at home. Dusty Ryan has no answers to this. "Maybe the guys need to send their wives on a road trip and let boys be boys at home. Something is definitely working on the road though." The wives were unimpressed with this comment.

Aaron Harang almost got his second complete game lasting 8 2/3. He only allowed 3 hits over 8 innings but couldn't quite finish it out. Still, it helped out a tired bullpen who will have much more rest the next game. And the streaky Joey Votto blasted two home runs in his first two at bats. Got to love it! Especially since Thames is hitless in the series. He may get a day off.

Some bad news though. Starting SS Alex Gonzalez fractures his hand and is out 2-3 months. The injuries keep on hitting. His defense was great and his offense OK. Currently Jeff Keppinger and Paul Janish will try to fill the void. They are decent defensively but struggle at the plate as both are currently hitting under .200 on the year. The Reds are considering trading Johnny Gomes for help at the position but will stand pat for now.

I believe the error on Hanigan above was a throwing error on a stolen base that got into the outfield and let Rollins take third. Raburn actually booted a ball in the 9th inning but it wasn't called an error. Harang really only gave up 4 hits and should have got a complete game.

Anyways, here is a stat screen on blown saves. 12 for crying out loud!

Third game against the Phillies and another victory. Johnny Cueto was great early on but got into trouble in the fourth inning. He still managed to pitch 5 innings and pick up his 9th win. The Reds hit 3 HRs with Votto hitting another and also doubling off the wall. He's been hot all series and it's nice to see. He ranks 7th in the RBI list with 63. Castillo was called up to take the extra roster spot giving the Reds 5 outfielders. He started for Thames and got his first home run.

I got 4 walks today (one intentional) and I had a huge base running blunder when I called for a steal that I choose not to explain since it almost cost me big time. Cordero got his 15th save and the announcers mentioned that he's been money the last few weeks going 7 for 7 in save opportunities.

The Reds are really looking at acquiring a starting SS to take over for the injured Alex Gonzalez. The minors have virtually no depth in the infield with Jerry Hairston, Gonzo and Encarnacion all injured. At the very least I'd like to acquire a backup 3B but I'm not really willing to part with any core players either.

Tampa Bay put Jason Barlett as SS on the trading block and I offered them David Weathers and Jeff Kepinger but that wasn't good enough. I tried throwing a third prospect in but no dice.

If I do make a big move it may involve trading Jay Bruce in the outfield. He hasn't had a good year for me but is a Top 3 to 5 talent on my team. I'd move Gomes into the starting OF spot. Adrian Beltre is also on the block right now but I like Raburn at 3B right now and Raburn can't play SS which is my biggest hole. Not sure what to do. I don't want to trade Bruce for Barlett straight up. If you guys have any thoughts on my injury predicament and who I should trade for let me know.

The Reds sweep the Phillies to go to 40-45 on the year! Road warriors it is. I believe I'm 26-18 on the road. Micah Owings got the start and the Reds offense led by Chris Dickerson and Joey Votto beat down the Phillies for a 10-6 victory. Dickerson had 5 hits but the player of the game was red hot Joey Votto who had 2 HRs and 9 RBI!! Votto had a 3 run HR in the 3rd and a grand slam in the 7th. Howard hit a HR and the pitching staff gave up 5 runs over the last 4 innings but otherwise dominated over the series. David Weathers is lucky he's still up with the club.
