Really hoping Brandon comes back soon. Definitely hurts roster flexibility since he's not on the DL (1-6 day injury). I'm playing Raburn until the cpu tells me he's flat out exhausted. Votto may get a day off today. Still about 7 more games in a row to play before the All-Star break. I'm about 7 games under 0.500 still.

Well game 3 is only in the top of the 2nd but Arroyo is getting bombed. Kids woke up so I had to save it (EA - please add in games saves!) but a couple of cool things already.

I actually picked the cpu off first base. I had done it in the demo but never before in the Show have I ever picked off the cpu. Very nice.

Even though I'm down 6-1 in the top of the 2nd, the run I got was a 437 foot bomb from Johnny Gomes. A hanging slider from Wainright was crushed!

Despite sitting Joey Votto and still missing Brandon Phillips the Reds offense showed some muscle as it banged out 18 hits and three home runs to go with 7 runs. Too bad the Cardinals also pounded out 18 hits, 5 home runs and 11 runs total. Every time the Reds would come back the pitching staff disappointed. My long relief was already fatigued and with Arroyo only lasting 3 measly innings the bullpen is taxed. I should have brought Rhodes in to pitch in the 8th inning to face the two lefties at the top of the inning but he was my last reliever that was rested and I decided to save him. Ankiel promptly hit a 2 run HR and Weathers continues to struggle big time. I've added him to the trading block and I'll take any reliever in return. He absolutely sucks right now.

Johnny Gomes had 5 hits in the ball game and is getting platooned with Chris Dickerson but I might be giving Jay Bruce some more bench time as well. Either way I have four good outfielders I can count on. Raburn has been good at 3B and has played 2B in Phillips absence but I need Phillips back. Keppinger just doesn't hit well.

Here are the season stats for my pitchers. I've had very little injuries here. The Show probably could do a better job with this. Either way Arroyo has been bad but will remain in the rotation. Nick Masset really struggled earlier this year but has done a nice job in long relief. He may get put into the rotation. Weathers ERA is over 6 and I have avoided using him lately but didn't have much choice in my last game.

Edinson Volquez is 5th in the NL in ERA and 2nd in WHIP. What shocked me though is Micah Owings has an ERA of 4.65 but is 7th in the league leaders in WHIP. He has issued the fewest walks in the NL (and many of my starters lead in that category).

The series stats against the 1st place Cardinals are not kind to my pitchers.

I open a 4 game series with Philly on the road. I'm 9 games under .500 and don't want to fall to 10 games back. Brandon Phillips is healthy and ready to lead the team!

I forgot to take a screenshot of the newspaper but do have one (along with another game saved) to report tonight hopefully. Until then, enjoy a game 1 victory over Philly! Volquez continues his brilliant pitching and had a no hitter through 5 2/3. Unfortunately back to back doubles cost a run and I pulled him after 6 due to fatigue (almost 100 pitches). But my new finishers Rhodes, Burton and Cordero held on to the win. Great game by the staff! The win moves me to 37-45 which is the same record as Philly now. They are struggling. Edit: Newspaper now added.

HR Leaders before the game started. Thames and Votto are low on the list with 19.
