I grabbed a team stat screen before the final game against Atlanta. Also included are some batting and pitching stats. My batting stats have fallen a bit lately but my pitching stats remain shaky.![]() ![]()

I'm not a big believer in small ball, especially after reading Moneyball. But with a lack of team speed, hitting into too many double plays and also missing Phillips and Encarnacion, I'm going to try moving runners along a little more with hit and runs and sacrifices. We'll see how that goes. I will have Phillips back in about 10 days. |

Reds win again! Another nail biter as I beat the ChiSox 6-5 in a great game. Bartolo Colon pitched well for the Sox and only allowed two unearned runs. They made two throwing errors in the game and I made one. The player of this game was Edinson Volquez. Through 7 innings he only allowed 4 hits, 1 BB and 10 Ks! I let him come out for the 8th as he was tired but obviously dominant. He allowed a hit and then I pulled him for Weathers. Got to two outs and allowed one run but was still leading 3-2 at the moment. With two lefties up, Bill Bray came in and promptly gave up a hit and then a 3 run HR. He has been a giant piece of crap lately! I yanked him again but the damage was done. 4 runs allowed, no win possibility for Volquez and I'm down 5-3. But my offense struck in the bottom of the 8th as I scored 3 times to take a 6-5 lead. Cordero came in and only allowed a two out single before recording his 11th save of the year. Both teams had 9 hits but I had zero HRs. Quentin and Pierzinski hit HRs for Chicago. Volquez had been dynamite this year. A bit of a shaky start but in 14 starts he now has 9 quality starts. His ERA is 3.13, pitched 83.1 IP, 79 H, 6 HR allowed, 24 BB and 67 Ks. The only other starter who has been as good or better is Cueto. He has 8 quality starts in 13 games and an ERA of 2.76 (7-3). My other starters are much worse. Owings is only 2 QS in 13 games. Arroyo is 5-14 in quality starts while Harang is 5 out of 13 starts. |

You couldn't be more right Ted. You think hitting 6 HRs in a game would get you a win right? Not with this pitching staff. I lost 10-8. The commentary was funny as they were blasting both sides. I also heard a fan question an umps strike call with "What game are you watching ump?". I thought that was funny - but I didn't think giving up 5 HRs was funny. Ramon Hernandez hit his first HR of the year and almost to dead center. After the HR there was a cut scene where he gets to the dugout and nobody was congratulating him. Then they all got up and gave him a pat and ended the joke. Both Votto and Thames are now in the HR chase. Votto has a lot of RBI as well. ![]() ![]()
