I just can't get a good winning streak going. Lose 3, win 3, now lose 2. I lost to the Royals 5-4 as Arroyo pitched poorly. He tends to serve up HR balls and he did it again. Arroyo got yanked in the 5th inning and left the game with a 5-1 deficit. The Royals pitcher wasn't much better as I flew out deep quite a few times. Thames hit a 3 run HR in the 6th to pull within one run but that was it. I got two guys on in the 8th and failed to score. Against closer Soria, I got a man on third with one out but struck out, got hit by a pitch and then Thames popped up to end the game. A close and frustrating loss.

The umpire in the game was terrible. Calls were bad on both sides but there must have been 6 bad calls in the first 4 innings.

Lost another game - this time 3-2 to the Royals and I blew this game myself. Volquez vs. Greinke on the mound. I gave up a run in the first inning and threw 25 pitches as well. But he was strong after that and I left him in the game until part way through the 7th. Greinke was really good early but I was able to string a few hits together and tie the game at 1-1 going into the 7th. I got another run off him in the top of the 7th to take a 2-1 lead. Now is where I screw up.

Bottom of the 7th, two outs, nobody on and the leadoff hitter Coco Crisp is up. I walk him on a 3-2 pitch. So stupid. He's crazy on the bases and doesn't have a lot of power. I got too fussy. So the loser steals second and then scores on a hit down the right field line. Game is tied. Then in the bottom of the 9th, there is one guy on, nobody out and a slow grounder to third. I try to go to second but he's safe and still nobody out. Crisp up again and sacrifices but I don't realize I'm the 3B and get to the ball too late. Bases loaded, nobody out. I bring in Cordero as it's the heart of the order. I get a line out for one out. Then on two strikes I try jamming a guy who gets enough on it to hit a sacrifice. Since Jay Bruce got tossed from the game I had to take Thames off the bench and play him in left. His sally arm couldn't throw the guy out.

Ugh. Definitely a pitcher's duel. No home runs.

When your starter throws that many pitches in the first inning, you know your'e in for a long and challenging game. I bet you was already thinking about who you might have to bring in from the bullpen in the second inning. I did that all the time. Nonetheless, I like that you kept your starter in for as long as you did. :waytogo: I've kept starters in before just to make them get out of their own jams that they created, especially in the early innings :fred:

I'll start keeping track of some box scores and hits. In that last game, I think I was out hit 11 to 8. Not sure. But for now....

F***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I carried a 2-0 lead into the 9th inning with Harang. I wanted to get him a complete game and he had full confidence but was exhausted in the 9th. I actually came into the 9th having thrown 98 pitches. He got an out but two weak singles later and I pulled him for my closer Cordero who has largely sucked this year with an ERA close to 7. Sure enough I don't show a lot of control and walk the first batter on a 3-2 count. The ump was really inconsistent all game though. Then a two run double, intentional walk and sac fly cost me the game. I lost 3-2. Absolutely sucked to lose a game like that.

I got swept by the freaking Royals who only had about 6000 people in the stands all game. The place was a freaking ghost town. And in this game my big hitters did virtually nothing. Raburn scored a run and drove in a run. Gomez actually got a couple hits too. But no big hits by any of my top batters. Brandon Phillips is batting .349 for me with 10 HRs and comes back in 1-2 weeks. It can't be soon enough.
