Bruce is probably my biggest disappointment so far as a hitter. I'll post my batting stats soon but he's hitting just over .200 with only 1 HR so far. Votto has been great and Phillips and Encarnacion are hitting well. Chris Dickerson is also doing well but Bruce has been a bust. Alex Gonzalez isn't hitting well but that isn't a shock. I'm not getting a ton of production out of my other OF (Tavares, Norris, Hairston isn't bad but dropped the fly ball). The deal is done! Harang has just had some really bad innings for me so far. He does seem to be improving. |

Traveling to Pittsburgh for a series in hopefully a good month of May has resulted in a much need improvement for the Reds. Both the offense and pitching came around although it took its time in the first game. Losing 2-0 entering the 8th inning, the Reds smacked 5 HRs in the final two innings including back to back to back HRs in the 9th inning. Newly acquired Marcus Thames got his first hit in the final inning but was not part of the HR party. He is batting 5th in the new Reds lineup.![]() ![]() |

I'm a little disappointed in the Show for transferring Thames stats over to the Reds. When you switch leagues you aren't supposed to do that. My offense exploded late in the first game and in game 2 against Pitt. I started to really focus on the ball out of the pitcher's hand as well as I tried to be more patient. Most importantly, I stopped trying to pull the ball so much and started going the other way with pitches. This helped keep me from being out too in front of the breaking stuff and also helped me work the pitchers. They tend to throw some fat ones when they fall behind and I'm making them pay. Then again, this might be luck as I'm just playing Pitt. Both of us were 7-15 to start the series. |
