OMT on OS responding to NCAA always being a year behind Madden:

OMT

It was more like this in the past than this console generation. Both games now share a team of designers and engineers who are dedicated to gameplay, so most of the tuning, tweaking, fixing things are shared. Where we begin to deviate from Madden (and vice versa) is gameplay features. So while we share the WR/DB interaction, the 9 man gang tackles is Madden only. We haven't announced the NCAA specific gameplay stuff yet so I can't comment on it.

One nice thing about it is that we can decide the next year if we want the Madden exclusive feature. And if we do take it, it will be much more polished than it was the year before. I think you'll see it with the ability to break out of tackles that we took from Madden 09... it works much better on NCAA 10 (and Madden 10 for that matter) than it did on Madden 09.

They also have a lot of the bands in the game and have team specific stuff like Ohio St. dotting the i. They have some videos up and will be doing a band of the day. They asked permission to do the specific bands so some schools said no for some reason. The ones that said yes will have team specific stuff.

I really don't know why a school wouldn't want their Marching Band stuff in a video game.

EA wasn't going to pay for it so some schools refused unless they got extra royalties. The bands aren't covered under the NCAA license and its a bit of a gray area as to whether NCAA could use it or not so they asked permission. Blame the school if your team isn't in there. They actually said it was pretty easy to do with the technology they used. They are going to put up one band per day until release I think on the official NCAA site.
