I'm not going to pretend I'm not going to buy the game at release. I've already got it pre-ordered and I doubt I'll cancel. I'll take a subpar NCAA product over none at all. But this product will be subpar. I have a hard time understanding why the NCAA team would pour so many resources into a mode like Season Showdown that almost nobody here cares about. And their comments about it make it even more idiotic.

They don't add formation subs. OMT said on OS that they didn't add the new QB ratings to the game because they didn't have time due to allocating resources elsewhere. Guess where that went. All I can hope for at this point in time is that we get a new leader of the NCAA dev team next year. Somebody like Ian Cummings who caters to the hardcore gamer. I'm not even asking for a perfect simulation. I do think games still have to have a bit of arcade flavour to be fun. But I just don't get this NCAA team.

NCAA 10 might be a really fun game. I'll have to wait and see. But my expectations after yesterday have taken another step down.

I was starting to get a good feeling about NCAA. Then this stupid new blog and OS interview comes out. I'm just stunned right now and starting to get pretty bitter. If E3 impressions aren't good, I may switch my pre-order to Madden and just wait on impressions about NCAA. The game is still almost two months away so my thoughts now are going to change but right now I'm not happy.

What was said at OS that made you change your mind?

The OS interview was the first time they admitted that formation subs won't be in the game. Then Ben Haumiller said that they wanted to add Season Showdown to give fans a reason to keep playing the game after the college football season is over. How about just making a great game jackass? By adding new QB ratings, formation subs, in game saves, etc. - those increase replayability. Not some stupid season showdown gimmick which they seem to love while everyone else hates.

Plus Ben said the sliders will work the same as last year. He's not the official gameplay guy but if I find out that they work as terribly as they did last year (blocking sliders barely did anything) I think I will pass on this game. NCAA football has always played poorly out of the box. I couldn't fix the game last year because of the crappy sliders. The cpu run game was a joke and the cpu pass blocking on Heisman was too good. Couldn't fix it.

I guess it's another season of PS2 NCAA
