The majority of WoW players did not follow it before launch either. WoW launched with numbers like any other MMO and over the months it gradually grew. I guess they did something right. My feelings are that a launch in no way defines a game. The launch is probably the absolute most difficult time during any MMOs career. The game that we get once all these problems go away and all major needs are addressed will define how many people will end up playing. I know that even those that say they've given up because of the launch are easily enticed to come back once everything is smoothed out. |

EvE is a fantastic example of this Mous, and I agree. Ofc some games (Vanguard, AoC, WAR) are just flawed from that start and plain suck, but the niche games, while they won't reach millions, they will grow and hold firmly |
