if whole/real numbers, (4,000 / 2) - 1 = 1999 (i assumed "round up to 4K"; because if it's round off to the nearest 100th, 1000th, blah, blah, blah, that's a different case. ^^) goodluck! (took me 5 secs - hahaha - "yabang"/arrogant - hope i got it right) |

(4,000 / 2) - 1 = 1999 is this the formula of finding the numbers round off to a certain number? i myself, was excited about this problem....ill inform you if you got the right answer. hehehehe |

Waaaa correction! 4000 / 2 = 2000 the logic is pretty obvious in rounding-off numbers. for example, "round-off to the nearest 10ths": any number from one's place, from 5 and up, are rounded to the nearest 10ths place: 26 -> 30 | 25 -> 30 | 5 -> 10 ^^ |

does it includes number greater than 4000 like 4001, since 4001 can also be rounded off to 4000.. number line: |--------------------|--------------------| we are finding that numbers in the red line..am i right? |

this time, we need to know if it's round-up or round-down or both. ^^, i only assumed round-up.

hhehehe... i got an idea...first we need to find what is the least number that can be round off to 4000 then we need to find the greatest number that can be round off to 4000 i guess the least is 3500 and the greatest is 4499 if we subtract 4499 - 3500, we get 999 so there is 999 numbers that can be round off to 4000, whether its nearest 10, 100 or 1000.. i hope this is correct... any second opinion? |
