Name: Prince Phong

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Location: The Royal Palace at the capital city of Yanaizu, Hokaize

Ethnic Origin Hokaize

Occupation: Prince of Hokaize, military strategist

Appearance: From head to toe, Phong’s appearance is comprised of a series of traits that balance themselves between masculine and effeminate. While his body is lean and toned, layered with streamlined muscle around his arms, chest, stomach, back and legs, you wouldn’t know it from his selection of elegant robes and kimono. His face is, at first glance, boyishly handsome—though if your stare would to linger, you just might find a hidden glimmer of mesmerizing beauty subtly beneath his smooth cheeked, green eyed surface. He has been groomed to be Emperor since he was a child, and as such carries himself very properly with straight posture, movements that flow like water, and an expression as stern as stone. His skin is a smooth, sandy cream colour, and for lack of a better term, is flawless. He has no scars or battle marks to speak of, however, centered in the middle of his upper back between his shoulder blades is the tattooed crest of the royal family—two koi swimming around each other, one black, one white.

Height: 5’10’’

Weight: 150 lbs

Personality: Sarcastic, cynical, socially aloof. Phong is every bit a prince you’d expect him to be, and twice as stubborn. He’s very straight forward and blunt—very often to a fault. His words tend to be harsh or commanding, reminiscent of what one might expect to hear between a master and servant, and as such, often hurt the feelings of others, or create awkward tensions in groups. The world has been handed to him on a silver platter, and he finds it rather hard to break from the habit of taking advantage of that. Deep down, though, he hates the idea of a caste system, where ones birth or family is what decides their future, rather than their true worth or dedication, and wishes that he were not so princely. Beneath his selfish exterior, though, his intentions are truly good, as is his heart. One could say that’s his struggle—the balance and battle between who he was raised to be, and who he really is.

History: Phong’s first steps were taken down the path of a future Emperor. He was educated, raised, trained and pampered in all the proper ways—each and everything he did grooming him to be the future ruler of the nation of Hokaize. At the core of all of his lessons, though, whether it be his Shogi sessions with the generals and admirals, or cotillion courses with the royal advisors, or the reading, writing and arithmetic lessons with the University professors, or even his long talks with his father, there was one principal that was constantly taught—‘It is the Emperor’s responsibility to protect his people and keep safe his land.’ It his perhaps his reason that Phong has always felt torn about his father’s decision to stay out of the resistance-less war against the armies of Damascus. ‘Are our people really safe, simply because they are behind these thick walls? Are our lands protected from the growing fire of the eastern continent? Or are they in grave danger because we do nothing but hide here behind our defenses, waiting for the day that they crumble at our feet?’

However, Phong was a respectful son, and therefore never challenged his father’s decree. That was until the day his twin sister Seong and his best friend Zai-Lu left the protection of Hokaize to join one of the many small resistance forces in Pacifica in the hopeless conflict with Damascus. It wasn’t long after they left that news had returned to the home front that they had perished in battle. Phong could no longer stand for this inaction—but his love for his father and family caused a great confusion within his heart. It took the parable of his greatest and most respected teacher, General Saizo, to shake him into action. ‘Long ago, there was a great forest divided in half by the Xu-Yen River. The forest to the south was ruled by a wise and powerful fox, who time and time again thought nothing to risk his life for the sake of his people. One day, while walking the length of the river, he saw that a great fire had started in the forest on the other side of the river. He could have used his great strength and power to put out the fire and save the other forest, but he did not move. For he felt he was only responsible for the protection of his people, and that the other forest was in the hands of the other kings. However, as the fire raged on, it soon reached the end of the Xu-Yen River and crossed over into the fox king’s forest. By nightfall, his kingdom was destroyed, and his people had all perished in the flames. To protect your people, Prince, you must sometimes also protect the world.’ After hearing that story, Phong left the royal city of Yanaizu and followed in the footsteps of Seong and Zai-Lu. He fought for two months alongside a small freedom fighter group on one of the Damascan occupied islands in Pacifica before being captured and taken to the High Security War Prison, Feldspar, within the heart of Damascus.

Other: Phong spent most of his childhood years playing Shogi against multiple opponents, thus he is a natural quick thinking strategist and, when it is required of him, he can be incredibly patient.

Before Phong left Yanaizu, he put in place a body double so that his father the Emperor would not know that he was acting against the wishes of the Hokaize Empire. Though his body double, Jinmay, is a girl, she was the only member of the Imperial Guard who could match Phong’s physical prowess and body size. The two are also close friends, so she can easily mimic his movements.

It is a very closely guarded secret, and none know outside of Phong and Kilala's closest companions, but the Prince of Hokaize and the veritable Princess of Pacifica are romantically involved.
