Does the UOF fender fit the 2008 kLR 650 without modification? Does it bolt on easily? May 7th 2008. Fred? Could we have an answer? Edited by Rich, Wed May 7, 2008 2:26 pm.

I have installed a few of these fenders and have never had a problem. Others have reported problems, like the mounting bolts being too short. I haven't found that to be a problem on the ones that I have done. The mounting clamps will only fit one way and that is over the bottom edge of the fork boots. There is an extra plastic bushing inside the mounting clamps that is not needed with the KLR since this fender is made to fit universally on most dual sport bikes with a 21" tire. I would remove the front wheel to allow more room to get the bolt and nut started in the mounting clamps. I would also put back the axle in the forks with the wheel removed so that the forks will be straight to each other. The included instructions are pretty useless unless you speak Italian.

The UFO Superbike Fender does fit on the 2008 KLR. I have not installed one myself on the 08 but I have seen several pictures of them installed. http://www.klr650.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7424&d=1186254730 |

I got the fender from Fred. The fender was slightly out of shape from the manufacturer upon placing on bike. With some mods to the screw holes which were out of place the fender fits pretty good. On the right side of the fork the plastic was not equal to the left side and some bending with a heat gun a trimming was needed to get it right. The blue color was a near perfect match with my blue 2008. Looks like it came from the manufacturer. Much better improvement in my opinion. |
