I had a bad battery and it sat for about 2 weeks, I replaced the Battery and took it out for a short ride and well less than a mile from home it put out a clud of blue smoke and so i had to haul it home, I think fuel got in my oil and my over flow tube was spewing out oil/fuel mix along with my muffler. I am wondering if this sounds like the problem or is it something else? the motorcycle has less than 3000 miles and is a 99 I bought at the begining of summer. if you could email me I don't get a chance to check this regularly. Thanks Daniel scoby20002002@yahoo.com

Is your engine oil level over full? It would have to be several quarts over full before it would blow out the excess. Does it continue to smoke or did it clear up? Was your gas tank empty all at once? You can smell your oil and if it smells like gasoline, I'd drain it and refill with fresh oil before you start up the engine again. You may have to do this several times. The cause for getting gas in your oil will have several reasons. First off you will have to have a leaking petcock. Once fuel gets past the petcock you will also have to have a leaking fuel float valve. This should let the excess fuel run out the over flow line on the carb. If this line is restricted it could flood this fuel into the engine where it will run into the cylinder and down alongside the rings into the oil in your crankcase. So if you do find fuel in the oil, you will need to check your petcock, fuel float valve and overflow vent line to see that they are all working properly. Good luck. Do not run your engine if it has fuel in the oil. |
