But now we're seeing some importation of the same nonsense from AF/HBF coming into here from AF posters. Can't these race-heads stick to ONE racial forum?
I hope I am not of these ones.
Don't worry PRMix, you're in my good book. I'm not a mod anyways.

This forum requires little moderation. Even though some of us have been branded as trolls elsewhere.

I guess I was getting a little carried away before. With my errr...internet forum xenophobia. lol. But then again, who could blame me?

This forum does require less moderation as I think the overall mood here compels people to make pertinent posts. And the fact that there are less members. Most of the crap-slinging that when on in the other boards occurred in the Politics/Religion/Anything Else sub-forums.

1/3 of their total posts are in the Lounge section on Anthroforum, and majority of the posts there are for the most part, completely lowbrow. So its a continuation of HBF's silliness. This forum is superior and you dont have to worry about things like cost and bandwidth, which wont ever be a concern for us. Furthermore, you dont have to worry financial contributors putting in money and getting free reigns over the forum or rep whores-- like the type of stuff you'll find on Stormfront or Skadi ect.
The question is: how do we make sure AnthroScape doesn't go the same route?
Yes most posts are in the lounge but do you know why?!?

because the loungue is one of the places where you can post personal pictures, & non members can't see them

When I was on HBF a while ago, the sub-forum where posters posted their personal pictures (mostly for classifications) was not in the "Lounge Area" but in the main area. This was not the Lounge area.

The Lounge Area had the "Fires of Mordor" board where there was less moderation; some members posted their pics there albeit sporadically, but it was mainly an anything-goes board not open to non-members. From what I understand, AF followed the same basic layout more or less with some minor changes here and there. You were also able to post some adult content there --- this, along with the dramas that unfolded in Mordor were the main reasons why the sub-board was not open to non-Members. Like I said, when members posted their personal pictures, they were mostly posted in the Classifications subforum.

There is a thread called "post your personal pictures" in the lounge section, and the posts in the lounge aren´t counted for in members post-counts. They have also started to warn/temp ban people who post too much in the lounge compared to their post count in the core forums.

Ok. But this must be a somewhat recent development in AF (like a couple of months old, or something)

HBF was always as I had described above. And as far as I know, AF had the same layout..."Post Your Personal Pictures" in a non-lounge section...until they changed to the situation that you described just now.

I note that you say "there is a thread called 'post your personal pictures". So my understanding is that this would be just one, single thread that would be dwarfed by the other (non-personal-picture-related) threads in the Lounge area.

Well, the thread isn´t visible to non-members. But it´s the main thread regarding personal pics not regarding classifications, there are other threads like "post your childhood photos" and other´s regarding morphing between members.

Either way the boards staff have started paying attention to people just hanging out in the lounge and have started warning, some have been banned for some days/a week and when they come back they must participate more in the core forum parts, and contribute. I don´t know the details since I mostly write in the core forum parts, and in the "post your pictures"-thread.

Wonder why that is?! But that is kinda extreme maneuver to take though, but shows no doubt extent of their troubles. But that is their issues and up to their mods/admin. They certainly follow our posts here, because we mentioned their lounge problem(s).

Anon called himself "R. Suydam"?

I do believe that's a reference to a character in one of H.P. Lovecraft's lesser tales, The Horror at Red Hook.
The character, Robert Suydam, is a deranged descendant of the original Dutch settlers of New York (AKA New Amsterdam).

I suppose that fits in with Anon's penchant for identifying himself with the original Northern European (though in this case not WASP) elites of the US Northeast.
Interestingly, in the story, Suydam is taken down by an Irish immigrant cop.

Crackers are never fun. :(

I just registered 3 minutes ago, so I don't know what was lost or what is new now, but that's probably all the better for me. I'm sure you have already, but be sure to always take measures to secure staff accounts. To be secure against another attack, all staff would need a secure password (of course) as well as proper security regarding their email accounts. There is also some extra security features on Zetaboards that they can use.

Good luck to you all on maintaining AnthroScape this time around. ;)

Why are you trying to pretend you're Anon? He/it would never make such a conspicuous and careless entrance.
