its indecent..and demonstrates poor sportsmanship...and yes, I would wager its racist. Why mention their mongoloidness? They beat you 2-1 in a football game...you dont go about whining about their mongoloid origin. |

Since when is Mongoloid a racial slur? It is what they are ,lol. If he said "gooks" than yeah ok then I could see. "they can go burn" means they can go to hell, nothing outve line or whatever. Just liberal jerkoffs blacklisting behavior they dont like and cracking down on free speech and basic human rights towards individualism and expression which goes against their socialist pc behavioral doctrines. |

"Mongoloid" was used as a slur in the past He used it in a slur context Free speech? This is a double edged sword, right wingers love acting indignant when it comes to curbing free speech, but everything has protocol...unless you wont mind hearing your president use the f-word, etc...when he addresses the state of the union |

yeah the way he said it was obviously somewhat racist. don't see the reason for denying that or trying to justify it as part of some larger crackdown on free speech. i mean i definitely agree and don't think he should've been removed from the games or even really punished that bad but regardless you must admit he said that in somewhat bad taste at least. let's be realistic: he probably doesn't seem like the kind of guy to know about the term in the sense of an anthropological race, so of course it wasn't used mainly in that kind of context; the fact that he added they can burn together with that was supposed be an insult probably. maybe on their own the two things aren't taken that way (can be just a competitive jab or jest) but combined it seemed that way. and yeah most people use it as a now insensitive or outdated way to describe down syndrome sufferers

Mongoloid is not a racial slur. You're being too much a finger pointing lefty which is clouding your judgment. Only time Mongoloid was used in such a negative or slang fashion was for retarded people or slang for stupid people but not really actually suffering from retardation, regardless of what race or creed they were. But that too was a scientific name for people with down syndrome.

Our typological terminology isn't known IRL. Some of us on these fora have got to step back sometimes and realize that the real world isn't Anthroscape, HBF, Apricity or whatever. "Armenoid" isn't exactly a household term that's used at the average dinner table. Edited by Caudium, Jul 31 2012, 05:12 AM.

It's always the tweeters. It's like they are addicted to it and loose control when they are typing. They think stuff like facebook and tweeter is a social place where you can exchange your feelings. They don't know it's designed to keep them in check and see what they are up to. Edited by Bulletproofpride, Jul 31 2012, 05:31 AM.

Not the same thing. If you went to school, had access to a encyclopedia, national geographic mags and dictionary at some point in your childhood and generally had an education then you should know what Mongoloid means along with the other popular synonym East Asian, as its a Race which most people who have an adequate IQ, educated parents , interaction in the world and go to school are aware of and things like race are filled out in paper for medical and social reasons in life. Something like Armenoid is a minor sub-race among Caucasoids which are not popularly taught in junior high or high school but you can learn in college and take a course in Physical Anthropology or simply self educate yourself by going to a library and visit the right sections. Even so, if you replace it with a different more "neutral" synonym, you still get "bunch of East Asians... they can go burn". Does that sound much better or less racist lol? |

Mongoloid is not a racist term but the way it was used was racist. It's all about in what context it was used. In this case it was wrong. Btw this disease is everywhere and not just in europe. |

Its just an angry tweet following a loss, what he did was not an uncommon human thing to do. What they're doing is against democracy and freedom by controlling what you can do and say and destroying and taking away a man's livelihood and they also like destroying peoples reputation so they get blacklisted and nobody wants them or can work with them like they're lepers, they're as bad as the Nazi's if not worse which America fought for not only our own but Europe's liberty and freedom to insure a free world from tyranny and this what we get a socialistic collective dictatorship and prison planet. The Olympics are PCed to hell I dont like media and mainstream sports its all garbage and a mockery. Anyway scientific terminology like Mongoloid, Caucasoid, Mediterranean, Armenoid, Nordic ect you can find in a dictionary you dont need forums like Apricity. |

I know that what I'm going to say maybe considered being off the topic, but let say it's another view at it! I agreed! It's Terminology and Etymology problems rather than anthropology terms!! Most people I've bumped against in this particular forum so far, already, thought that I'm extremely racist!! Just because the stereotypes they had in mind! They don't even know who I am and yet they act as so! For example; the white term, that people believe it's not existent! Well, most Arabian people use the term (white) to describe them self! And they even upset when you say they don't! the white for them is the light (yellowish) brown for us!! And they use the term (brown) to describe the Negroes!! And the (blonde) or (red) to describe the European white!! So when you compare a Northern European with (light) Arabian, NA, or even SE, and they ALL believe they are white! If you said; well, the NE are white and you're all not! Then you're racist!! You have to use the term Caucasian for all!! But who use it anyway in real life?!! We like to simplify things! Light = white, medium = brown, dark = black, and yellow = yellow!! That's it! Another thing, if we looked at 4 and more East Asian or Black people standing together I'm sure that we'll think they all are twins even if they were 100 people (and I'm not talking about trained eye, just a local farmer from the great Bavaria)!! Are we racist in this way?! How about if you put 2 NE in front of a Bedouin guy, could he tell the different?!! I don't think so! But sure they would say about the Bavarian farmer that he is a racist!! Why?! We see things differently! I don't know if that is true for you, but I could believe in that because the eye used to see (more of them and much in mirror) so they will be able to tell the different among each other, just like the American and Canadian people who see all kind of people and mix in all strange weird possible mixed way! There is practically no color left when you mix the entire rainbow! I don't say white is better than black or yellow is worse than brown!! NO! All I want to say that you had to be open about what other see not what you want to see! And most important is to accept who you are and try to find something to be proud of than color! If the yellow refused to called Mongolian and the black refused to call Negro and the brown refused to be Arabian! Then we all have to carry a degree in anthropology in case to be safe from calling each other racist! :/ I'm sorry if I offended anyone! But no one should feel sorry about what they believe, but sure to be sorry when you know that your believe are wrong and you saw the right one, yet to refuse to adopt it! |

O.k., it just took me 15 minutes to find out, what really happened and in these 15 minutes I came accross some wild disinformation from the SPIEGEL as well, saying that he wrote "retards" instead of "Mongoloids", but the truth is that he wrote neither. 'Je fonsde out les coreen allez sout vous lebru. Ahahahhahahaah deban zotre.'', which is encrypted French and reads 'Je défonce tous les Coréens, allez tous vous brûler. Bande de trisos'' in plain text and should probably be translated as "I beat up all the Koreans, go all you burn (go to hell, I presume), gang of Mongols." If that is such a big skandal, what is this? "Allen Schalker Frauen wird die Fotze abgehauen!", which is a common fan song among Borussia Dortmund fans and translates to: "All Schalker women get their cunts knocked off." |

"Mongol" is a very common insult in French and refers to the mongoloid, as in "down syndrome". It can also mean mongoloid as a race, but it is hardly used in that context and not known to many people. Even if he used it in the latter context, he was surely aware of his provocation. Edit: Oh, I'm just reading that in fact he wrote "trisos" (=trisomy 21)!! So it was not only racist, but also discriminatory against disabled people. Edited by Keksalarm, Jul 31 2012, 09:25 AM.

So he did refer to down syndrome. Well, thanks for the clarification, but the press is in a shitty state nonetheless, being unable to quote, as if that would be so difficult. But, Keksalarm, what is "discriminitory against disabled people" about it? When I call you an idiot, am I discriminating against idiots? Just as an example. Just to make this clear, by likening a genetical defect to the appearance of a race, I'm insulting that race. So, whatever that is, that's what he did. Edited by topos, Jul 31 2012, 10:04 AM.
