Not only that there are certain genetic factors that mixed with alcoholism trigger agression, but most of the ones that do turn alcoholics come from modest backgrounds, dysfunctional families, poverty and a lot of social issues that direct them to escape through alcoholism. That background means they are not the most cultured people so alcoholism lets them express their character directly. Most of the people i know drink a lot and I have no close relative that abstains from drinking, and all of them get odd behaviours while being drunk, and I can't stand most of them while being drunk. I used to drink...a lot...4 years ago i stopped and now i'm disgusted even by smelling it. This society is so rotten and people are so confused so they need sedatives(alcohol, drugs), lots of them. I can't put myself in their place, but I just can't understand the relation where they claim to love life and claiming that they are joyful people but they drink a lot, do a lot of drugs, smoke a lot to be so...If they love life so much why do they are running away from it? |

I get really aggressive when drunk, snappy and downright nasty. Makes me a lot more impulsive too. |

Interesting study. Finnish men have a cave-man gene that becomes visible when they're drunk. Alcohol is a hell of a drug. If it makes you aggressive, then you shouldn't drink at all. |

Only people that get more humorous should drink, that's the only trait that you could never get in excess...but good humour not some drunkard mumblings and circus acts |

Those who can't handle alcohol shouldn't drink. I have a friend who gets really angry and mean when drunk. It's like a complete different person. I can handle alchohol. I just get jolly and good company

Alcohol should be banned, I applaud what the Czech government did in banning spirits after the death wave. Let's hope the ban lasts for longer than a week now. I become less aggressive when drunk, I'm more likely to knock out drunk morons that come to annoy me like they usually do, everyone in this country thinks it's cool to get piss headed and act as loud and obnoxious as possible. I think I'm more of a friendly and flirty drunk than an aggressive drunk. |

There are studies that link ABO type O with MAO defects and both unipolar and bipolar depression. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11508010 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6573841 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/495168 O's are also usually have less risk aversion, a greater openness to adictive behavoir due to being unable to clear catecholamines. |

Same here. Although there has been a few incidences I'm my drinking career where I have gotten aggressive out at clubs a few times. Thankfully the other people never wanted to fight back. Drunken fighting is no good Edited by Kingofhearts, Sep 19 2012, 05:18 AM.

Doesn't seem plausible because otherwise, medication manipulating either directly MAOA (MAO Inhibitors, especially irreversible, that downright destroy MAOA) would need to cause these things. |
| If you take anything in this forum overly serious, you should really go and see a doctor. | |

Only if you drink at the same time, TM, which, I think, is generally frowned upon, taking drugs and drinking alcohol. But you can try it out, of course. |

Only for ABO type O. MAO inhibitors for such people are a real problem. Noty all the ABO drug corellations are the direct result of the action of the blood antigens. Often the effect is due to gene linkage with 9q34.1 It is best to read up about specific drug - ABO interactions before just taking the medicine. This is not about plausibility or implausibility - the science has progressed beyond such level of speculation. |
