Why do some Iranians look Irish/Ginger?

All Indo-Europeans are related and come from a common region in central asia.

But more specifically - the toponyms/ethonyms Ireland and Iran have the same root meaning "aryan", theorized as a top cultural class in proto Indo-European society.

That's what I was thinking as well. I know about that theory too. Eire, German word Ehre for honor, etc.

Some of it may be random depigmentation mutations but I think some of it really is linked to an extent to the last few remnants of those people in these areas, or at least evidence of their minor presence as the elite there.

Yep, I'm not one that believes in coincidences. I definitely think there are latent genes primarily amongst the Indo-Europeans in the Middle East (Iranians, Pashtuns) which when correctly coupled reveal a combination equivalent to the one which seemingly occurred to the early europeans (people did not arrive in northern europe as gingers or blonde).

We had Greek expansions, the nomadic scythians, arab and viking slave traders capturing other Europeans to sell them to Arabs etc. Except in case of the isolated Kalash, these features are isolated cases in all those ethnicities.
Do not forget the Rigvedic Aryans.

But they follow old Rigvedic customs (-> Hindu God Indra). The Kalash people are not of Greek descent. There is no proof.
