How does what France did in Algeria not constitute a genocide? As far as I know, France does not recognize what they did in Algeria as genocide. I am asking this question, since I am Turkish and France recognizes an Armenian genocide. Therefore, I am wondering what was the difference between the two events? 1. Armenian men joined the Russian and French forces to fight against the Ottoman Empire, whereas Algerian men joined the French army as soldiers to liberate France from the Nazi enemy. 2. Armenian gangs slaughtered many Muslim Ottoman citizens (More than 520.000 Turkish and Kurdish civilian to be exact), whereas Algerian men sacrificed their lives for the French. 3. Armenians attacked the Ottoman Empire, whereas Algerians fought to aid France's fight for liberation from Nazi rule. 4. Some Muslims did kill some Armenians, but not because they were Armenians, but to take revenge for their relatives slaughtered by Armenians cooperating with the Russian and French forces. Furthermore, the famine that had hit them affected all. Famine and disease did not discriminate. That's what we are never told, by unscrupulous genocide scholars, for whom only the Armenians deserve to be designated as victims. On the other hand, one and a half million Algerian were slaughtered, more disabled, raped and tortured by the French army... by the army of the country that they sacrificed their lives for... Yet, France recognizes an "Armenian genocide", but leaving aside recognizing the Algerian genocide, France does not even apologize to Algeria. Battle of Algiers was the movie I was thinking of (good movie). There's also a recent french movie about an algerian kid who goes to prison and skirts around the law to better himself. I wonder what the sentiment of the average everyday french person is to this conflict. (which is why I mention the movies since they seem to be held in high/romantic regard). |

Angral, as i know you are a kurd. But it seems you dont like reading history. Armenians massacred 530,000 muslims in the eastern Anatolia in 1913-1915 and most of them were KURD. This is why Ottomans deported Armenians to the midle east. Maybe we should have leave them alone...? once you asked me for my address..and i wrote my detailed address . i like guests.
