Another example how science becomes distorted by politics. However all evidence indicates the Gypsies originated from India. The recent discovery of the Jat mutation suggests that the Gypsies are the descendants of the Jat people. There is a general consensus amongst scholars on an Indo-Aryan and Indo-Scythian origin of the Jat people. Therefore Gypsies belong to the Indo-European family whereas Finn-Ugrians do not.
