A little history that might explain the looks that Hungarians (and some Central Europeans) show. Quote from Wikipedia: Hungary The Avars, Asiatic nomads who during the late 6th and 7th centuries had formed an extensive empire largely inhabited by conquered Slavs, made the agricultural Slavs pay taxes, and used their wives and daughters as concubines. The Hungarians are thought to have originated in an ancient Finno-Ugric population that originally inhabited the forested area between the Volga River and the Ural Mountains. At the time of the Magyar migration in the 10th century, the present-day Hungary was inhabited by Slavs, numbering about 200,000, who were either assimilated or enslaved by the Magyars. During the Russian campaign in the 13th century, the Mongols drove some 40,000 Cumans, a nomadic tribe of pagan Kipchaks, west of the Carpathian Mountains. The Iranian Jassic people came to Hungary together with the Cumans after they were defeated by the Mongols. Over the centuries they were fully assimilated into the Hungarian population. Rogerius, a monk who survived the Mongol invasion of Hungary, pointed out not only the genocidal element of the occupation, but also that the Mongols especially "found pleasure" in humiliating women. Wow I'm surprised at the amount of diversity in Hungary actually. I didn't know Meds were found there in any significant amount either. Same for Armenoids... Interesting. Learn something new all the time. But I wonder why they included the second guy on the Turanid-Med mix... he doesn't strike me as noticeably Turanid influenced... I've seen people like him before. Anyway nice plates. |

I think Prio has mentioned before that Hungary overlaps with all the European countries. |

In Hungary the extremes coexist in Europe, the very blond, Nordic complements some looking, others look dark, Mediterranean, and still have mixed types. That is, no longer need diversity, already has much. According to Coon, half of the Hungarians is brunette. Edited by Sefardita.iberico, May 1 2012, 11:52 PM.

You know there are blond Mediterraneans mentioned in Coon's work, and he wasn't talking about an admixture with Nordics. http://s1.zetaboards.com/anthroscape/single/?p=780358&t=4753817 This topic can provide you some examples http://s1.zetaboards.com/anthroscape/topic/4753817/1/ |
