Originally posted by Mitsuki I've noticed that lately we've had a lot more people come to this section, that doesn't really see too many people. So, I decided to set out the rules as clearly as possible, to make things easier here for everyone. I've gotten rid of the other Guidelines and Rules so there is only one topic. If you have any questions about this section of the forum, everything should be here. If not, please PM me. First, I'd like to repost all the rules that were previously set down by TheBug who started this section:
"Introduction:
Welcome to the Anime-Chains’ Serious Discussion Forum. The rules posted below encompass this forum only. This forum is ended to give a place for the more mature of anime viewers to share opinions and comment about anything anime related. That being said, this forum also has a stricter rule set than the other forums on Anime-Chains. Therefore, please read this post thoroughly before posting.
Note: I’ve tried to make these rules as complete as possible. However, please use common sense in conjunction with them.
Forum Rules These rules mean exactly what they say. If there is any room for interpretation, the moderator will be the one of make it. That being said, if you are unsure about any rule, ask a moderator.
1.) No offensive language – Profanity, vulgarity, etc. are forbidden. Use common sense, people of all ages can view these threads. 2.) No double posting – You are allowed to edit your posts, make use of that feature. 3.) Proper writing mechanics – Includes not only proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling, but also overall style. Stay away for “1337” speak, and minimize general mechanical errors. 4.) Do not present opinion as fact – If something is strictly your opinion, state it explicitly. The most common way to break this rule is to say something is “good” or “bad” without giving supporting evidence. 5.) Use descriptive/specific thread topics – Avoid creating generic thread topics (i.e. just the name of a show). Be as descriptive as you can about what the topic is. 6.) Do not stray off topic – Since we have rule #5, do not wander off the topic of a thread. If you need to go off on a tangent, start a new thread. Minor off-topic posts are fine so long as they are isolated. If someone posts something slightly off-topic, and you wish to discuss it further, start a new thread. 7.) Do not insult others – This means flame wars. NO NAME CALLING PLEASE 8.) Use spoiler warnings – Please mark all posts containing potential spoilers with spoiler warnings. No one likes to have a show ruined for them. If it turns out that spoilers become rampant in this forum, I may simply remove this rule and put a "Read at your own risk" disclaimer.
I just wanted to mention that discussions involving video games are perfectly acceptable here. Just a suggestion, however, discuss games which are either RPG or Anime in nature. All other forms of games are not worth it (i.e. Max Payne). Yes, I realize that Anime-Chains already has an "Anime Games and RPG" Forum, but a quick glance will reveal you have been mislead.
I've been noticing some posts which have no real point. Specifically, I am referring to posts that give the names of another anime series which supports the argument of the topic starter. I would prefer that each post add some new ideas to the thread.
9.) Post meaningfully - Topic starters please avoid asking people to give examples to support your argument. Discussions are to look at both sides of an issue.
Swearing policy: Zero-tolerance here. Anything that cannot be said on TV (not including "mature" stations like MTV) cannot be said in this forum. Even if vB filters them out, they cloud the meaning of a post and is otherwise just annoying."
I'd like to draw particular attention to the "no double-posting" rule, and to remind everyone of his statement saying that people should only post if they have feedback to bring to the discussion. A simple  or "yea!" doesn't fit that. I'm not trying to be extra harsh or anything. I hope you will all enjoy it here, and use this forum section for its created purpose.

Originally posted by Mitsuki Appropriate topics for discussion in this section of the forum are anything relating to anime, or anime-related and rpg games, which can be connected to life or whatever you want to discuss, but remember to present a topic that has two definite sides that can be argued, at the least.
Two sides of a debate does not count as: Do you think Inuyasha is prettier than Sesshoumaru? While you could answer either yes or no, that is not valid and cannot be debated on. It is only personal opinion, that cannot be backed up with fact, and that will ultimately end up with people only giving yes or no answers.
That being said, anything that deals only with a particular anime series, unless it is a Debate (such as the End of Evangelion topic, but I don't think it's here any more) must be posted in that specific series' forum. Unless you have something very meaningful to discuss, post it in the section it belongs in. Anything relating to Inuyasha, unless you feel that it is worthy of a real debate, belongs in the Inuyasha section. If a question on a series that doesn't have its own forum comes up, unless it is debate-worthy (I'm letting you decide what you think that is), please post it in General Anime.
Let me know if you have any questions, and enjoy your debating! ^^

In case the other two posts weren't clear enough, do not post merely your opinion, without any fact, or any attempt to back it up. That sort of thing belongs in General Anime. Topics concerning favorite characters belong either in their series' forum, or in General Anime, if that applies to the topic.
Any posts with no point, presenting no argument, no fact or discussion will be deleted without warning. Any irrelevant post, as well as any flaming or swearing, will get the same treatment.
Any thread that does not constitute a debate, meaning that it does not contain two sides, or that it does not contain two "arguable" sides (because both side is based on personal opinion and therefore cannot be proven or be ultimately right or wrong) will either be moved or locked, most likely locked, but feel free to open the thread again in the appropriate forum section.
If whether the topic is debatable or not comes into question, the moderator will be the one to decide whether it stays or not.
As posted before, this forum section is more serious than the others, therefore it has stricter rules. Please enjoy debating here, and if you don't like these strict rules, there is no need to post.
