Personally I think there are some good English dubbed anime out there. It all depends on what it was dubbed and what anime it is though.

I agree. Depending on the publishing house normally Funimation has some of the best dub work and in it's day, Geneon.

I agree that there are some good dubbed animes. IMO, I think Naruto and InuYasha are good dubbed animes. I'm not used to the Japanese version yet.

The only company I had ever been heavily impressed by was the DUB work that Geneon did *and thank god their starting to come back* and occasionally ADV, the dub work on Samurai X was amazing, and Geneon has always done a great job dubbing the Hellsing series, both the 13 episode anime and the new OVA's, but alot of companies just suck morbid balls at it, for instance, I love watching Japanese Bleach with a passion, it's awesome and heavily enjoyable, were as *I think its funimation that has it, maybe ADV* the english version of bleach is so horrible I would rather beat off with a razorbladed condom then have to watch that crap again.

You found Trust and Betrayal's ADV dub amazing? :O

I thought it was one of the worst dubs I've ever heard. Many of the voice actors lacked any kind of emotion in their actting which killed the mood of the OAV's most intense moments.

How high would I have to fly to lose sight of you, so far away?

I don't think they are any good English dubbed animes at all. They have great voice actors, mind you, but there's ALWAYS atleast one character with that high-pitched, "I'm-going-to-tear-my-hair-out-of-my-head-if-he/she-doesn't-stop-talking-soon" annoying voice and it always makes me mad. It ruins the entire anime! I don't mind most of the voices, but one bad voice actor can throw everything off. =/

^Kagome for instance?

I wanna kill TDG right now...I personally like the English Dub for Bleach...Kon, Ichigo and Korodo are terribly annoying in the Japanese version...I like Kenpachi better in English, and Ichigo's character is more fitting with the English voice...I'm sorry, but Bleach has some really good voice actors.

Personally, the best dubwork I've seen is Outlaw Star...They really matched the characters with their looks and personalities well...

You can definitely have good dubs! InuYasha, Escaflowne, FMA, witchhunter Robin and even a couple of the Gundam series (preferably the newer ones) are done very well. I think a good dub will stay as true to the origianl as possible. Keeping the same music, the story and trying to cut as little as possible. Unfortunately due to a different audience in america some content and of course teh music would'nt be overly relatable to a broader audience so they cut it. As the anime audience has become more mainstream, this is less of an issue....but it will take a while before making true to the original dubs becomes an everyday practice.

That girl's voice is just... argh.

lol.

I can stand some Enlish Dub, Bleach for instance (like a lot of people are saying). Good voices actors, there. But I'd rather stay away from it, personally. For some reason I have a hard time going between Sub and Dub. I listen to Sub, then go to Dub and just... shiver? lol. Code Geass had some good Dub (I loved Lelouch's voice actor).

Bad Dub can kill an anime, though, so I tend to stay away from it. <_<

I liked YYH's dub...most parts...

Kodcha's was the worst dub ever, and so was Ouran.

Both were poor.

Fruits Basket and FMA were wonderful I must say though.

All in all I like dubs the most, unless for some reason I see the subbed first, then it's engraved in my head that the japanese is more fluent...etc.

FMA, Death Note, and Ghost in the shell are three anime I can immediately remember offhand for good english dubbing. There's a lot of others, but I've seen so many it's difficult to recall names off the bat

Death Note and GITS were decent.

I think pokemon spiraled down hill after the people owning it kept changing...

Surprised no one's talked about Cowboy Bebop yet. I've heard of some say that they like the English dub over the Japanese version.

I also enjoyed the dubs for Koi Kaze, .hack//SIGN, and Read or Die TV.

Koi Kaze has a great dub. I love it.

There are good dubs out there. I say that dubs have come a long way in terms of acting and quality. There are always bad dubs but more often than not they are passable... I like watching my anime dubbed if I'm lazying around. Ranma 1/2 is my favorite dub.

Dubs can be good if they use voice actors as opposed to voice readers.
Kurokami's pretty good. I hate the Japanese voices, they don't suit the characters in my opinion.

I had to get used to the Kurokami dub but I came pretty much to the same conclusion. They're not doing bad, particularly with it being a near simultaneous release with the japanese airing

I've always preferred Cowboy Bebop's English dub over the Japanese dub. Steven Blum is a brilliant voice actor and he pretty much made it for me.

Bleach has a decent English although Ishida's voice grates on me like flairs. Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex has a good English dub. I actually watch it with the English dub more than I do with the Japanese.

Dubbing has come a long way. I think they're a lot better than they used to be, whether it's just old VHS anime tapes or what is on TV.

My favorite dub is probably Ranma 1/2. Awesome dub right there. My least favorite is definitely Tenchi Muyo. Bleh.

It's come a long way indeed. Anime distributors are paying much closer attention to what fans want and make the best effort possible to deliver a decent English dub. The only distributor nowadays that rightfully deserves being flamed for heavy changes to anime content would be 4Kids, though none of the titles in their ownership don't interest me to a great extent nowadays.

I really like what Bandai have done for anime, I hope they continue on what they're doing with Kurokami to include every new license they secure in the coming seasons.

The only 4kids anime I still like is Sonic X...but since fox sold 4kids to the CW, I no longer have anything to look forward to during the long graveyard shift at work...

The English dub to DeathNote is probably one of the best I've ever watched...I don't like the Japanese at all on that one...plus the English voices fit the music and dark themes better...Bleach is a good dub, InuYasha was decent...The dub for Code Geass is good too...

DeathNote, InuYasha, FMA, Wolfs Rain, Chobits, Samurai Champloo (the Japanese voice actors just don't sound right), Yugi-oh, Zatch Bell are really good dubs and I was like in love with the first 5 episdodes they did in dub for Eyeshield 21 (but they stopped making them ;___;)

But some dubs just totally ruin the anime like Ouran Highschool Host Club, Elfen Lied.
I hate it when they dub everyting including the opening and ending songs like they did for Ouran, that totally ruined it.

Out of all the anime I've seen usually the ones with either a higher budget behind their Japanese production, popularity, and animation quality have had the best dubs when brought stateside IMO. Death Note, Bleach, Code Geass, Suzumiya, Evangelion all had relatively good dubs. Even Lucky Star for all of it's story woes (by my standards) had excellent animation, and the dub wasn't that bad. There are some exceptions, to this but those three criteria seem to hold the most value in whether many enjoy the dubs.

But really dubs are a mixed bag because even the best dubs are subject to the criticism of peers and personal tastes. Other times you're just plain used to the japanese releases and it's making the switch to the dub voices which affects your liking to the series.

Did it seriously take me over half a year to see this? lol, but anyone, the thing is at the time when i saw Samurai X, i had just started watching anime, and at the time, i hated watching subbed anime, so for me, the work done on Samurai X was golden, don't get me wrong, I have since then watched the subbed versions of the anime *seeing as how i own every version of the Samurai X collection* and it is still very good, but i've just grown so use to the english version of Samurai X, it's more enjoyable for me to watch in dubbed.
