I know it's a really wierd Q but I'm gonna ask anyway.. There's this drug called ritalin that is given to hyper activechildren that reduces their activness and helps them calm down. It has an opposit effect. Does anyone know why? Or if u know any reliable sources for me to get the info from? (I wanna know exactly how the drug works in body?) THANKIEEES! |

Ritalin is really only meant to help you concentrate on things you're doing, not so much in calming you down. It can work both ways but my experience with it was once I got started with any kind of work I was able to concentrate on finishing it more easily without drifting off into lala land, but of course it also had the same effect if I started with something I was already distracted with. |

thnx everybody seems I missed a few words: "It has an oposite effect on adults" I more wanted to know WHY the effect on adults is different. U see I need an academical answer therefor I guess some medical sites are needed. the problem? I dunno any good medical sites. My major is electronics after all... |

I'll have a look and see what I can find... but I used it until I was half way through college and didn't personally experience any opposite effects :\ I'll assume that's an individual result though... |

WebMD.com I frequent this site with all my medical papers that I have to do. But also the reason it effects adults diffrent is because ADHD effects adults diffrently... It deals with a chemical imbalence in the brain in adults the symptoms might be sabatoged relationships, being late everywhere, and other types like that. But the same medication given to children is given to adults to. It just benifit them helping sharpen concentration and help increase brain activity (Dopamine is kinda of a happy chemical drug that you brain produces but some ppl produce none to very little.) so it increase the dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain to balence adults out. Im sorry if that makes no sence but WebMD will help you! |
