Does anyone know if Disney is going to rerelease My Neighbor Totoro? I have seen conflicting reports and was wondering if anyone knew. I took our copy out of my 7 year olds room because I did not want to pay upwards of $70 to replace it if it got scratched. |

I have not seen a package that has both in it. I have the original release of Grave Of The Fireflies so I did not look at the new release. I will check into it. I had heard that Disney was going to rerelease Totoro and possibly Kiki's Delivery Service in special editions to coincide with the Ponyo release in March. I saw somewhere that Ponyo is going to come in a 2 disk special edition with a plushie so I wonder if they will do the same for Totoro. |

That looks like it should be pretty cool, now I just need to decide if I should get four copies so each kid can have one or do I be selfish and just get one for myself. LOL I believe this is the first time Studio Ghibli has allowed any kind of marketing with Disney so hopefully they are starting to get along better. Maybe we might finally be able to see some American releases of their other titles, Only Yesterday and Tales Of The Earthsea just to name a few. |

As far as I know, Disney's discontinuied its DVD release of My Neighbor Totoro so you're gonna have to hunt around online stores like Amazon and E-Bay to find it. Regarding other Ghibli titles, while Disney does have distribution rights to Only Yesterday, they have no definite plans of releasing it. Some speculate a couple scenes in the movie have made Disney hesitant to release it here in America such as a bath scene with Taeko as a child and school children who are immaturely discussing menstruation. Disney has had a tough time wrangling distribution rights to Tales to Earthsea since the Sci-fi Channel had rights to the Earthsea name from live-action movie adaptations they made of the book series. Sci-fi's rights to the Earthsea name are suppose to have expired this year, though there hasn't been any official announcement from Disney yet regarding a North American release of Tales of Earthsea. And Slan, Disney has no distribution rights to Grave of the Fireflies. Their deal was limited to films that Ghibli made with production under the publishing company, Tokuma Shoten. Grave of the Fireflies was produced by another company called Shinchosa when it was created as a double feature theatrical release in Japan alongside My Neighbor Totoro. The distribution rights to Grave were once held by Central Park Media before they went bankrupt. ADV license rescued it earlier this year before their assets were sold off back in September to different companies. Section23 Films currently has distribution rights to all the anime titles and movies that were in ADV's library at the time its assets were sold, counting Grave of the Fireflies. |

Has to be either an offer or double feature packaging done exclusively by the store. |

Disney has no rights to Grave of the Fireflies so it's nothing they have any involvement with. |

I have one copy, but if it is not going to be rereleased then I am going to want to find a second copy. My kids love it and so do I, one of my favorite movies of all time. I have been checking on line as well as hitting stores and pawn shops in town so hopefully I can find a copy for under $70. The whole family would be heart broken if something happened to our one copy and we did not have another one. |
