Instead of healing potions, what do you guys think of healing surges? Here is the variant rules that would be involved: Healing Surges (including the expanded healing surges section) Taking Stock I would reduce the number of healing surges by 1/2, just because otherwise you guys will be spending a long time in the dungeon with very few breaks in town, which I would prefer to avoid. Potions could also work with this variant, but you would only be able to carry a certain number per trip (each potion is like being able to use a second wind another time). |

I like the healing surge idea, but I have a question. We can use our healing surges once in combat and once every time we heal some other way, but maybe if we didn't use our second wind, could we use it after combat?

You can use a healing surge whenever you take a short rest (like 5 min). So if you take a 10 min rest, you can use 2 surges. |

Oh, and another question. When taking stock and using a second wind, do yo still get one of the other bonuses for taking stock, like the +1 dodge to AC for example? |

You get to spend a healing surge and get the benefits of taking stock for your second wind. |
