http://www.l4d.com/?sourceid=WKS19_Google_Left-4-Dead-2_Name_left-4-dead-2_Homepage We saw a very brief glimpse of Left 4 Dead 2 this morning at Microsoft's press conference, now we get a bit more details from publisher Valve. "A large part of how Left 4 Dead became 2008's top-selling new IP on Xbox 360 and the PC was the custom-tailored gameplay made possible by the AI Director," said Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve. "With the knowledge gained from creating the original, new technology, and a passionate team, L4D2 will set a new benchmark for cooperative action games." Set for Nov. 17 as an Xbox 360 and PC "exclusive", the game will add melee combat, deeper cooperative gameplay and new weapons, including a chainsaw, frying pan, axe and baseball bat. The game will make use of AI Director 2.0, which Valve says will take the game's dynamic gameplay to the next level. That means the ability to procedurally change weather, world objects and pathways and "tailoring" enemy population, effects and sound. The game will also feature new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items. Valve says the game is much larger than the original with more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, and maps for Survival mode available at launch. "Left 4 Dead was backed by our most aggressive advertising campaign to date, and resulted in a top 5 showing on two platforms during holiday 2008," said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. "Left 4 Dead 2 is a larger game and will be supported with even more consumer and retail advertising programs than the original." http://kotaku.com/5274389/left-4-dead-2-features-melee-deeper-coop Edited by Panda, Jun 2 2009, 12:52 AM.

Left 4 Dead was a great game! It's gonna be hard to top it with a sequel. I hope it doesn't go the road of other titles with sequels and blow hard... |

Yes it sucks that they have not followed through with updates of l4d, but at the same time the people that play the console versions never get any valve updates anyway! It will not decrease the quality of online gaming, it will be better if anything! Yes it sucks that you will have to buy a whole new game... but for people that have been waiting for l4d2 to come out before picking up the original that is good. |

Personally I feel there should be a sequal, simply because even with the updates. How repetitive is L4D? Honestly. It's the same 4 missions no matter how you look at it. I can't wait for the sequal. Hopefully there will be some sort of compatibility that allows you to play L4d 1 missions for Vs if you have the original game |

RPD_Leon has been able to upload updates for his L4D game, or this is what I've heard Basically all I hear from this boycott is 'It'll separate the community'. Just because a new game comes out doesn't mean all your friends will stop playing the original, there's a lot of things you need to factor in. 1. When the sequel comes in, as I am sure, it will sell out and many people will have to wait to get a copy, just like the first one 2. Many people won't be able to afford the L4D2 came for a while due to financial issues and will continue to play the first one 3. I believe that a large amount of the community, are friends of people who have the game (because they themselves either don't have the game or an Xbox360) and therefor it's dependent on the actions of their friends 4. Dude, people still play DOOM online, why are you so worried about people leaving the community? |

It's not about that I could care less about the splitting if you knew anything about valve this is what matters and quick sequels like this means less quality of a product and these valid points -To holding Valve to its promise of free, continual updates to Left 4 Dead in order to build and sustain the community. -To supporting the model of continual updates Valve has set forth with its staple products like Team Fortress 2. This is the first step for valve to be come a blizzard like company just shoveling out crap to see how much they can make. Look at TF2 valve is adding weapons and updates for FREE and keeping the game current which the could have easily done with l4d it looks like they tasted success and they just wanna cash in witch is against everything valve was founded on. another example Half life they don't just push out sequels after half life 2 they added discounted chapters. We don't valve becoming all the other game companies thats what we're mad about. PS if the voice act from E3 is what the really use it's god awful http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3...t-4-dead/50554 Too True http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49zmWhw_vGw Edited by Panda, Jun 20 2009, 05:44 PM.
