way back at the start of 2000 at space world Nintendo showcased what looked to be a video of link fighting ganondorf using the gamecube's spiffy new graphics engine. what we as zelda fans expected next was for a new zelda game to be revealed at some point in the future. what we got, was wind waker. now don't get me wrong wind waker is a fantastic game and will always be remembered for its unique art style, humor, and glorious soundtrack. but at the time, Zelda fans just weren't prepared for something like that. I mean, did you see that coming!? I sure didn't. (in fact, the first time i heard of it i thought it was going to be called "the weed whacker") only until after the fact did we realize that it was one of the best Zelda games to date. about a year or two later, twilight princess was announced with no name and a single trailer and a handful of screenshots. over time more trailers were released, and the hype built up and up. once the game was finally released in 2006 in conjunction with the Wii, everyone went crazy for it. and back then everyone lucky enough to have a Wii from the launch got the Wii Version of the game. I however, got the gamecube version that Christmas and beat it within the next week, Missing a new years part in the process (lol vaati has no life.) that was then. then theres now. the hype has died down. people accuse the game of being boring or "too easy" as I do from time to time. but i still play it. I still explore the games vast landscape of the kingdom of hyrule as if it were sprawled out in front of me. but just recently, as in about an hour ago. I was wandering around the internet and came across some of the old trailers for the game. I realized that the world depicted in the old trailers and screens pre-release are incredibly different than the official game release. I mean, going into game lingo now, faron woods were COMPLETELY redone for the final version of the game. I was shocked that they left some of these places out seeing as how they looked so awesome. apparently some people on youtube agree with me about that too. heres a video of some of the old trailers. see if you can point out the differences between them and the final release. Lets list some of the obvious ones.
![]() some more things i discovered and remember hearing around also include beta music, charachters that were left out(including an early design for Sheik that would later be used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl) and enemies that made, honestly, no sense at all. Its as if the game evolved as it went along, and seems like the developers didnt really know what to do at times or were indecisive. which in retrospect might have been why it TOOK SO DAMN LONG TO COME OUT. but I digress. Regardless of the changes made to it over time, Twilight princess is a fantastic Zelda title and still remains one. and today, I ask myself the same question that Zelda fans asked themselves in 2003 with the release of wind waker. did I really expect something this awesome? now that i think about it i realize the answer. Hell no i didn't. Edited by Vaati227, Sep 9 2009, 11:04 PM.

With the given information, I would have thought that TP might have been a sequel to OoT (especially with Shiek being considered.) And yes I'm going to get bashed for getting the Zelda continuity wrong. I do remember seeing the third trailer (or at least the part where Link became a wolf and med Midna,) and the entire thing looks beautiful compared to the general graphics of the GameCube. |

Ah... the original Twilight Princess hype. Amazing how much the game changed from its first unveil to release. No wonder so many people were disappointed. Speaking of Zelda trailers, there are some rumors that Nintendo will show the first trailer for the next Zelda on Wii in their October press conference. Fingers crossed! |

A trailer eh? Heh. I'll be on the lookout for it. I still don't see the game coming out till sometime in late 2010/2011. (Hopefully I'll have another Wii by then) |

After seeing the first trailer, it makes me hard to believe the game started out as a My Little Pony Horse adventure into the woods. It ended like that, if you think really hard. |
