Specifications:
- C++
- SDL, SDL_ttf, and SDL_image libraries, with the source of SDL_gfx being used for some inspiration
- Lua to be used server-side
- Hand-drawn 2D graphics (think Alien Hominid or another Flash-based game), with elevated, north-facing view
- 2D graphics rendered from 3D polygons using OpenGL for a smooth future transition to full 3D. (Not sure, might just switch to using SDL as a backbone for all custom engines)
Gameplay:
- Ability to switch between zombie and human
- Entire world status based on zed-survivor balance
- Expanded stat and skill tree
- Different stats and abilities for zombies and survivors
- Balanced abilities between living and undead
Stat/skill trees: Note: All skills marked in bold and italics are super attacks. These are the highest level attacks and the heaviest hitters, including Death Lunge, Magic Bullet, and Death Bite.
Zombie:
- Combat (attack types, abilities, and tactics)
- Scratching
- Biting
- Infectious Bite (poisons if successful, dealing damage to the infected survivor at intervals when he/she is active)
- Grasp (grip onto prey and feed)
- Lunge (a fast ability that gives the zombie a short burst. If successful, will deal modest damage. Used with Grasp automatically)
- Hording (ability to control multiple undead beings)
- Influence (level of control, up to five total zombies)
- Formations (layout of group)
- V, W/M, line, shotgun, and more
- Individuality (ability to control single zombie in group aside from primary zed)
- Combat (group attack tactics)
- Swarm (fast attack in which all horde zombies attack)
- Mutation (high-level super-zombie abilities)
- Super Lunge (a lunge with x1.5 distance and x2 speed)
- Death Lunge (if super lunge is successful, can deal 50% damage to target. If target's health is below 20%, there is a chance of dealing a kill.)
- Death Bite (an infectious bite that deal x1.5 the damage in half the time)
This is only a small sampling of the entire skill tree, which is still under construction. Here are a few things that could be done with these:
- Use Individuality with maxed Influence ability to put 2 zombies to chase a survivor into the remaining three, or use individuality to hide several zombies in shadows and then use Swarm to attack from all sides. - Use Influence and a line formation to move large objects such as trucks to change the course of a survivor, then Swarm.
Survivor:
- Combat (attack types, abilities, and tactics)
- Marksmanship (firearms)
- Melee (knives, hand-to-hand, etc.)
- Survival (general abilities)
- Barricading (ability to find and/or construct building fortifications and open-air defenses)
- Free running (ability to climb fences, maneuver through barricades, and more)
- Looting (heightened chances of finding useful items)
- Zombie Hunter (high-level zombie-fighting abilities)
- Headshot (chance of dealing half-health damage to zombie with firearm. If zombie's health is below 10% and a survivor hits with a firearm, the hit will kill the zombie and make it harder for them to get back up)
- Magic Bullet (a chance of firing a shot that ricochets inside the zombie, dealing x1.5 to x3 damage)
Classes:
Classes are starting designations that give a new character a certain number of skills.
Survivor: (unfinished!)
- Military
- Recruit
- Melee, level 2 (higher accuracy)
Scout
- Melee, level 1
- Free Running, level 2 (can free run more quickly and can overcome greater obstacles)
Soldier Medic/Healer Mercenary Civilian Engineer
Zombie:
- Recently Deceased
- Rigor Mortis
- Grasp
- Influence, Level 2 (influence over one other zombie)
