Your Rain: News Desk

Last updated on: September 29th, 2013.

It's been a long ass time, but here we are.

This is for the members that have already came back, and for any possible returning members. I'm just writing this to let you all know that I am completely serious about restarting and re-vamping this site. I'd love to get our little community back up again, and maybe even expand that little community!
In-Game Info:

Year: 2005

Month: August
I want to also apologize for my sudden absence from here. Personal life was becoming very tough and, without going into too much detail, I was at a very bad place in my life. But now things are getting better, and I'm ready to start becoming an active RPer again, and to re-connect with all of you guys! So, here's some general questions I have for you all: do you want to restart our roleplays or wrap up what we already have? Also, what sorts of changes would you like to see around here? We'll discuss all of this in the coming weeks.

I want to give you an idea of what will be different with this re-opening. 1. The Site Rules will probably be updated. The update probably won't be too major, but enough will be different that it will warrant a look from new and existing members. 2. My expectations for writing quality are going to be stricter. Your Rain was open to RPers of all experience levels in the past, but I need to start expecting a certain level of quality. Not perfection, of course, because nobody's perfect. But since I've matured as a writer, I'm going to want a mature group of writers on the site. My vision for what I want this site to be and what I want it to become has changed since I started out. This is really aimed more at new members, because I know the existing members are all very talented writers. But just don't be surprised if I'm more meticulous than I was when the site started. I hope I don't come across as an asshole though! Your Rain will, of course, be first and foremost about having fun in the world of Silent Hill, so don't expect that to change any time soon. And as always, I will accept members regardless of their level of Silent Hill knowledge, because they can always be teached! Anyway, I'm very excited to be continuing with this site, and hopefully make it even better than before!

((Magnificent. I'm assuming this is Griffin's 'PH' and I'm really interested to see where it's going. Good luck with midterms btw, those are a bitch. Also having replayed Silent Hill 3 and examining the Inn room numbers, there's no 110 so the room is now 104, not that it will probably matter.))

It was disappointing to say the least. But somehow Steven hadn't expected the first person he'd met in the town to know about a rumored location. Joseph had mentioned a neighbor to the 'orphanage' in his article and perhaps it would be possible to locate this neighbor. He only hoped that he could find the place and in doing so he would find Joseph. He turned his attention back to Griffin as the boy started to speak animatedly.

"That car out there is your's? How did you get it past the barricade? It's gone isn't it... I can leave then!"

"I don't know what you mean, there's no.....what....the......"

It was as if the young man was possessed. His eyes seemed glazed over and he was only focusing on the sketchbook in front of him. The art that had flashed across the pages as he'd turned it over had been nightmarish enough, but the thing that came from the boy's pen now was like nothing he'd even imagined in his wildest nightmares. Again he began to question the young man's sanity.

"Hey, Griffin, are you...."

"You came down the path by the observation deck, right?"

Griffin looked at him directly, unaware of the thing on the paper. He struggled to find his voice for a moment, it was just a drawing after all.

"Yes and I didn't see a barricade so I if you want to leave town, you can. I'll even drive you as far as the observation deck if you want. But I've gotta go to the motel office and pay for this room first. You're welcome to stay here or come with."

Steven stood up from where he had sat down on the bed opposite to watch Griffin draw. He'd wanted to suggest that the boy go to a hospital before leaving town, especially since he didn't seem to have a car of his own and it was a long walk back to Brahms. He walked to the door and opened it, not intending to come back in this time without having paid for the room and taking a look around the town. He hesitated a moment for Griffin before walking out of the door and across the foggy parking lot towards the door he'd seen with the plaque that read 'office'. He turned the knob and finding it open, stepped inside.

Griffin still seemed excited and in good spirts when the door to the outside opened, but the instant the fog licked his feet, he seemed discomforted. It was almost as if he was expecting something to attack him with killing intent. Nothing did but the fog felt like it held many dark secrets that humanity was never ment to known.

Griffin followed Steven to the door of the office and was given a face full of the stench emminateing from inside the unlocked and slightly ajar door. The odor was somewhere between a mountian of rotting eggs and a trench full of decomposing corpses. Whatever was going on in there, it was not right nor holy in any definition of the word.

If one listened closely, a sound not unlike someone eating a piece of meat that was torn right off the cooling body of the kill. Of course, when the door opened completely, a scene of horror presented itself to the pair.

To the right of the door, a pamphlet rack, just a simple thing that held information about the area in its pages. A few advertised places in Silent Hill and held a few maps.

To the left was a counter-desk mix that was the front desk of the inn. Just past it, its upper torso hidden by the desk, crouched a monster not unlike that of a man who had been pulled apart by horses, burned and then sown back together using parts of equally maimed humans with a dash of pain. Large metal spikes stuck out of the thing's back and head, its entire being looking like it was an avitar of pain.

Underneath it, two legs of a man, shoes still attached, were gnawed to the bone and tossed away as the creature devoured the rest of the body.

Griffin just stared at it, his eye twitching. So that was the kind of thing he was running from... 'I thought I burned that page...' He whispered it and as soon as he did the thing turned towards the pair, its eye sockets simply crammed with metal spikes and it roared, something that sounded like a thousand death screams of men, women and children. the roaring maw was filled with spikes upon spikes, each one branching out and oozing black blood like diseased sap from a demonic forest.

It moved forward, not on hands nor paws nor hooves nor feet but on spikes that were sharp enough to cut a hole into the air. And it was fast, charging towards the two with killing intent.

The punishment of the damned recommences.

Steven grew wary as they approached the door of the motel office. When he had passed by it earlier, the door had been securely closed. Now there was a horrible stench and inhuman sounds coming from inside. Griffin stayed back a little as they had walked and Steven noted that he seemed uncomfortable since they had exited the motel room. He reached inside his coat for the gun and gripped it before pushing the door open fully with his other hand.

The scene that greeted them would have certainly made men of weaker constitution turn away. Something was eating the motel manager, yet he couldn’t see much of the creature from where he stood. It didn’t look like an animal so he could only assume that this was murder. Griffin whispered something that Steven couldn’t hear and yet the creature seemed to. It rose up from behind the desk and Steven’s eyes grew wide. He now beheld a creature out of nightmares, it looked like a man yet there were so many metal spikes driven through the body no human would have survived.

Upon hearing Griffin’s words it charged and he raised the gun. Steven had only wielded a gun a few times and always at a practice range. He wanted to make sure he had some idea of how to use one before purchasing it and coming to this town. He had feared running afoul of religious fanatics, yet this was something entirely different. The monstrosity lumbered towards them on the metal spikes that were its limbs and he pulled the trigger.

“Get back kid!” he yelled and took a few steps back from the doorway himself.

The first shot ricocheted off of the spike that would have been the thing’s left eye, the second off of the spikes on its back. The metal covering its body and his lack of skill seemed to make sinking a clear shot on the thing impossible. He pulled the trigger one more time, hoping at the least to distract it long enough for Griffin to get away. Then he slammed the door closed and ran for his car.
