US Army using Wii Remotes to defuse bombs

Posted Image "Boffins say it's more instinctive."

The US military has adapted Wii Remotes so that they can be used to control bomb defusing robots, according to the New Scientist.

David Bruemmer and Douglas Few, engineers at the US Department of Energy's Idaho National Lab, have modified Packbot, which disposes bombs, sniffs out explosives and checks for land mines, so that it can be controlled by a Wii Remote.

Wii Remotes are more instinctive, allowing users to focus on data processing, according to the engineers.
