Here is the next chapter! Chapter 6 Awakened Truman awoke. He was in a bed, somewhere inside the castle. As he came to his senses, he realized that he was in his bedroom. Figures were around him, whispering. As his eyes came into focus, he recognized the figures. Standing before him were Selima and Saloma. “Selima!’ he coughed out in delight. “Saloma!” Truman then erupted into a coughing fit. “Do not use your voice, Truman,” Saloma warned calmly. “You need to regain your sleep.” Truman tried to sit up. To his surprise, he could do it with ease. “How…” Truman stopped speaking. He then remembered everything that had happened during the night. Everyone in the castle was in some sort of horrible sleep. “How long have I been asleep?” “Many hours,” Selima replied. “Truman,” Saloma interrupted in a worried tone, “We went to our parents’ bedroom to show them we were alive, but they were not there! And the guards by our bed where lying in the hallway! My sister and I carried you down here into this room. We are worried that they are not well.” Truman got out of bed, and walked outside of his room. He then said, “I know. Nobody is well.” “What do you mean?’ “Someone has poisoned everyone in the castle. I do not know why I was not affected, but everyone else was. “It must have been something you ate; there is nothing else it could have been.” Truman thought. He tried to remember what everyone else had eaten at the feast that he hadn’t. Then, the thought struck him hard like a bolt of lightning. “The boar!” he exclaimed. “I was the only one who did not eat the boar. It was enormous, part of a large feast.” “Oh dear,” Saloma said, worried, “The leftovers of every feast like that are given to the rest of the city!” Truman did remember that the boar was unusually immense. “Wait! That means the boar poisoned a portion of the city!” “That’s right. The food is first given to the guards at the gates, then everyone else. That man must have gotten in that way.” “That man, you called him Burchard, must have been one of Hedda’s servants. We should find your parents and make sure that they were not murdered, like you were intended to be.” The two princesses nodded. As they walked down the dark hallway, each of them noticed that something was horribly wrong. They walked down the stairs, Truman first, then Selima, and finally Saloma following last. Selima shrieked as she saw the motionless body of a servant girl on the floor. On her face, there was a look of great fear. “She was trying to warn the guards,” one of the sisters said gravely. As they continued their way into the hallway on the second floor, they saw a figure in a gown lying on the floor. It was Hypatia. Sprawled next to her was Perdita. Selima shrieked. “Mother!” she yelled, kneeling down next to her. For the next hour, Selima, Saloma, and Truman walked around the castle, pointing out bodies they knew. The only sound that could be heard was the noise of shoes on the floor, echoing eerily. As the sun rose, Truman and the sisters sat near the body of Perdita. They noticed that color was coming back to her face, as well as many others. Finally, her eyes opened and she started to blink several times. “Guards” Perdita yelled with terror, “Someone is in Orvill! I saw him in the castle! Guards! Guards!” “Perdita,” Saloma said, “do not worry. All is well again.” Saloma smiled as Selima ran up to hug Perdita. “Princesses!” Perdita shouted with joy. “You are not dead! I thought you would be in that sleep forever!” Soon, everyone started to get up around them, and news was spread that the princesses were alive. As the word reached Hypatia, she quickly ran up to Thaddeus and Ballard’s room to get them. “My daughters live!” she yelled into each of their rooms, one at a time. Ballard and Thaddeus quickly followed the Queen down the steps. Everyone in Orville was awakening from their deep sleep; the young children, their mothers and fathers; the guards, servants and cooks; and most importantly, the King and Queen of Orville with their daughters. The long darkness that fell over the castle was gone, replaced with its former heavenly glow. Everyone rejoiced, and it was found out that the boar had been poisoned. Those who had not been unconscious, such as Truman and several other families who didn’t receive any leftovers from the feast all agreed that it must have been the boar, for they had been the only ones who had not eaten it. When Titus found out about this, he was enraged. “Hedda has gone too far!” Titus bellowed. “We are going into the forest immediately,” Thaddeus replied, “We cannot afford to wait another day.” Titus allowed himself to calm down, and Thaddeus said not a word as he walked pass him. “I shall get the troops,” the King said, “It is time we pay Hedda a visit.” ***** “It is best that you be on your way, Thaddeus, or you may not make it to the Shrine,” Hypatia said. “We must know what has been causing these mysterious deaths.” As Thaddeus Truman and Ballard followed Hypatia down the steps, a though struck Ballard. “What if the path we take doesn’t lead us to the Shrine?” Ballard asked, “Don’t worry. Every path will lead to the Shrine.” Saying good bye to everyone in the Castle, the men walked down the steps of the Castle, and then outside the Gates of Orville. Finally, they were on their way to Hildegard, in the valley of Blagden, but first, they had to cross the Bradshaw. |

I believe ...... Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. I believe....... That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you. I believe. Do you? | |

Good job, Mythic. :) This wasn't one of your best chapters, but it was still interesting. |
