A month to go . . . anyone doing it? For anyone who doesn't know what this is, it stands for NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth. You have to write a 50,000 word story/novel in the month of November. That's roughtly 1,667 words a day. I did it last yera and it was awesome. This year I'm breaking the rules and not actually starting a new novel by adding a further 50,000 words to my current novel which I actually started for last year's Nano. So, has anyone got any ideas yet? Edited by Lykaios, Oct 5 2009, 11:47 AM.

You're not breaking the rules, as long as you write 50,000 new words. I have to finish my current novel by October 15, so I'll have 16 days to work on my idea. I don't have an idea right now, but I'm going to do a good outline, especially for the characters, so I don't have to do so much rewriting. I can't wait! :) |

The site rules say that you have to start a new novel, so it is breaking the rules, technically. However, on the site I've said it's one story split into two parts . . . which it is, but they seem okay with that. :) Last year I had four days to plan. Only found out about it just in time, I forgot, see. :P Good luck, any way, and have fun! Wow, your novel sounds really awesome, Lykaios! :) I'm too young to sign up the NaNo site. My birthday is November 5, and I'll be turning 13, the minimum age, next year. Do you think I could just sign up for the regular site next year, a few days before my birthday? :P I'm bjullie on the Young Writer's Program site, by the way. |

Nah, loads of the young writers program people sign up on the main site too, so I don't think it matters, they jsut legally have to have that their. They're not going to know any different and you're writing level is a lot higher than any 12-year-old I've ever met, including myself. Edited by Lykaios, Oct 6 2009, 05:43 PM.

^Yeah, I though so. And thanks! On the Young Writer's Program, they have a chart that will help you figure out a good word count goal, and it shocked me. The suggested maximum word goal for my grade was only 12,000 words. I'm not a prolific writer. Sometimes I read over the huge NaNo threads on KWC from 07' and 08'. Everybody wrote a LOT, very fast. More than I would. :P I'm going for 50,000 words. I might add more if I don't finish my current novel, but I guess I can't count that because it would be two novels, then. |

Yopu can write as much as you want so long as its written in November - no limit really. Some people write several novels, even. In the last week of Novemeber, if you have a look around the forums on the website, you'll see a lot of people with ridiculously high word counts that make your brain hurt from wondering how they did it and had the time to eat and breathe as well. |

Hello! I'm sorry I haven't been here in awhile. But I think Nanowrimo is the perfect time to come back so here I am! Day 15, we should all be around 25k by now, for those aiming for 50k by the 30th. I'm pretty excited because I wasn't expecting 25k for awhile because I got so far behind. I reached it yesterday around 8:30 and am hoping for another epic writing day today. Best of luck to everyone on reaching their goal! |

'People want to know why I do this, why I write such gross stuff. I like to tell them I have the heart of a small boy... ...and I keep it in a jar on my desk.' 'Both Rowling and Meyer, they're speaking directly to young people... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good.' - Stephen King | |
