:'( This is such a hard topic for me...Yeah, I knew at least one of you would say that, and makes sense that it's you, Core. I know I do sound really selfish right now, but I'm just thinking, there are hundreds of other writing boards out there just like WR, which some of you are already apart of. A lot of the people here are on other forums that you're on too though... I guess I didn't really know how much all of you liked WR...I didn't expect you'd be this upset, and I think that's part of the reason that I'm making an effort to shut it down. I'm too busy (at least for a while I will be), and I thought no one would mind that much. Believe me, I'm trying not to be selfish. One of the reasons I wasn't totally into handing it over was (and I know it might sound stupid) when I started WR, part of the fun of it was the fact that I could change anything I wanted, and basically create it and run it however I wanted. If I hand it over though, it's sort of like I don't have control of my own forum (even if it's not mine, it still seems like it to me, but I'd have to get over that). I'll consider handing it over though...(I don't know if I'd still be the owner then, or just a member for when I came on...I'd have to think about it) Sorry everyone...you must be really ticked off at me. :-/ I'm really tired just now, and I haven't replied to some of your questions and comments, so if you want me to reply to something you said, just post. Alright well all personal reasons aside, I do think that WR should stay up. It's already established, isn't it? And as Core pointed out, there is a fair amount of activity here, and it doesn't need heavy moderation like other sites I'm on. Now, I'm thinking of making my site a "members only" sort of thing, meaning it won't be a priority in terms of revamping, advertising, etc. It'll just be "as is." That should free up more time to balance on other forums. Currently, I'm admin of this site and Realm of Ice, along with moderator of THL and another forum. I'm thinking that, instead of shutting down the site, we streamline it. Get rid of what's unnecessary: combine forums, delete forums, etc. Give the site a makeover. Add themes, delete themes. Give it one attempt before shutting it down. Or if anything, we could make it "members only" where we disable new registrations and force people to log in to see the board. Shutting down isn't completely necessary. Not that it's possible to completely shut down this site, anyways. Zetaboard doesn't offer that option in the Admin CP. You could turn the board offline, or go through and dump hundreds of topics by hand, but the second option is rather tedious isn't it? If this were on its own host, deleting the whole board would be easy, but since this is run by Zetaboard, on their servers, I doubt there's an option to close the board down for good (by that I mean total destruction and deletion). I say that we try for a revival. And I know I've said that before and disappeared while other projects had my attention, but it's clear that there are other people here that don't want this site to close. And as an administrator, my first service is to the people on the board I run. So if the general public says go for a revival, I say go for a revival. What do you guys think? |

I think inactive members should get e-mails/PM's to see if they're ever going to be active again, so that we don't have so many inactive members. |

^It'd be a matter of luring them back, I think. Luring them back and keeping them here. |

I disagree with Bjullie on the whole "send emails" thing, partly because it more or less just annoys people and busies them with the tedium of having to read it, and probably not reply and have absolutely forgot about the site altogether. And really, there's no bother in luring them back either, I think they've made their choice and they have all the liberty to keep that. On the other hand, rejuvenation appears good. And it's something we should consider rather than just giving up completely, but I'm not exactly sure it'll work out as smooth as you seem to assume. By all means, I definitely support the idea, I'm just wondering whether it'll affect the board. |
| Everybody loves the universe. If you can look past the black holes, the rogue asteroids, the gym teachers, and that paper boy who keeps throwing your magazines into the bushes, it's a simple place most of us can call a happy home. It's a good thing. However, even the obviously non-sentient universe has a sense of irony. You see, the universe is going to end. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not 10120 years from now, but it will happen. One of the ways science predicts our inevitable demise is by pissing off God. But that's another story. Instead, another way that science predicts the universe will cease to function is through the "heat death of the universe" theory. | |

I'm not for member only at all...right now I know none of you would never cause trouble in WR, but later there might be a lot of trouble if there is no one to close topics and such. No! Okay, shutting down isn't completely necessary, but I'm not really liking your ideas so far, Icey. :-/ Just so you know, I would have just made the board offline. |

I was avoiding saying it, but I agree, it's kind of selfish to shut down the board. I'll be more active if it keeps it up. I'll get the crit class up and running for real. If people are garunteed critiques, then more people get help, and it gives people more reason to join. Whatever you do, don't shut it down, though. |

'People want to know why I do this, why I write such gross stuff. I like to tell them I have the heart of a small boy... ...and I keep it in a jar on my desk.' 'Both Rowling and Meyer, they're speaking directly to young people... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good.' - Stephen King

I'm fine either way.. I suppose me joining WR was part of a phase, considering I'm really not that affected by this. It's fun and all, but I'm not the type of person to stick around one place too long; I'm surprised I've been around a small writing forum for half a year. I know that, which is why I'm not jumping up and down, volunteering for mod tasks, I'd love to, but I couldn't. The way WR is run, and the suprisingly active small community is why I've found myself coming back, if just to be a bystander. I would hate to see it all end- not really for me, for everyone else- but do what you will. |

Dont shut the forums down! I just started becoming active again! I was busy with school and everything, but everyone has a life offline and I don't think you should just shut down this site because some people are busy! You don't have to feel guilty about not coming on, I am the one who was absent for months. But I always decide to come back, even after months of absence. Why? Because Writers Realm is a great site! As long as people come back, which they do, it doesn't matter how active it is. It doesn't cost money, its free, and nobody is obligated to stay forever. I say keep this site going. |

I believe ...... Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. I believe....... That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you. I believe. Do you?
