I usually edit when I'm done writing the book. What do you do? Just start editing in the middle of your story? Edit a chapter right after you write it?

I self-edit as I go, and I might do NaNo EdMo. Usually, I reread a passage after I've written it and fix the minor problems.

I unconciously edit as I go. It's a bad habit of mine because it means I hardly ever finish anything. I've only written two stories fully, all the way through without editing as I go. One was a 42-page history project and the other was my longets novel which I hand wrote first. I'm ashamed of both. :P

Editing is not my friend but before. Before I edit my current book, I have to finish it, as it's too complicated to edit because I don't know how much of it I'll need to rewrite or cut, so I could just waste my time. :/

However, the urge to edit is powerful. :P
