Thought I'd throw these out for you guys to see. Dissect, edit and insult as much as you like :]

Alright, so the blog is a good idea. But unless people know about the blog, there's not much of a chance for high activity. So I figured why not take Writers Realm to high activity websites? Like social networking sites.

So, here's a few ideas:

  • deviantART: We create a Writers Realm dA page and post, with the author's agreement, stories or teasers for stories there, with links back to this website.
  • Facebook group: We create a Writers Realm facebook group. The group would probably be either admin-approved or invite only. With facebook being one of the biggest social networking sites, we'd have a good chance of getting noticed.
  • Myspace page/group: Not a myspace fan anymore, but myspace is one of the most popular social networking sites for the under 18 crowd. People who have myspace pages could post bulletin ads, put the page in their Top 4/Top whatever.

We could try for other social networking sites, but those are the ones I'm very familiar with, and could run, if we can come to an agreement on this.

Also, I know none of us are really online at the same time but maybe we could do MSN/AIM/YIM/Skype/IRC chat rooms? It'd be an awesome way to interact, and also, we could pull a friend in,introduce them and maybe convince them to come to this site. And we could toss around more ideas for advertising and activity boosting in real time. :]

Ideas? Comments? Complaints?

dA: I checked it out for the first time. It looks really good. I'm all in for that.
FBook: Why not?
MySpace: I don't use MySpace.. no idea about it.
Messaging/Chat: Do you mean like actual chatrooms or just communicating through MSN? I've never used a chatroom.

The dA idea is ok...but I do like our blog on blogger, so I don't know what to think. :-/

I don't really like the FB option, nor the myspace, since I never use it.

What if we had certain managers for different places...for instants: what if one of us (who ever volunteered, and how ever many people wanted to help with that) would manage the FB blog, one of us would manage the blogger blog, and one of us would manage to dA blog? We'd all post the same results and news and stuff, and I or IceDragon could PM all of the managers with an announcement that we would like to make on all of the blogs, and then everyone would update the blog that they were taking care of, and also post results to contests and stuff?

Thoughts?

DeviantArt would be a good one, because it'd only bring in people that are interested in art or writing and it gets a lot of traffic.

Facebook . . . Well I made a group for Spattered Ink on FB about a month ago and so far the only people who've joined (I left mine open to anyone so it could advertise better) are members of the site and a friend of mine. So I'm not sure that's work unless we got all the members to join it and send out invitations to everyone they know, then we might get it on the search list. Having 'Writers' in the name helps a lot. You could try it, it's easy enough, but make it accessable to everyone, it's only a group.

Myspace: No idea how to use it.

MSN/chatrooms: I don't understand this one. I only ever talk to people I know on MSN or people that I trust from forums. The former, mostly aren't interested in writing or those that are, don't use a computer often enough to be part of a forum, and the latter alredy are part of either one or more forums. The only chatrooms I user are on TW and YWO, so there's the same problem that people are already part of somewhere and might not want to join another.

Allyson's idea sounds good. We just need someone who knows about myspace. What about Bebo? You can make group pages on that too.

I've never been on Bebo...do you like it?

If we decide to do this, I want to make sure that the managers of the blogs aren't just people who've just joined...I think we need members that have been active for a certain time, or have at least 100 posts or something like that. How do you guys think we should choose (if we follow through with this that is) who should do what? People can say which one they would like to manage, of course, but we'd have to say either yes or no...

On the chat rooms, if you would like, I can set up an IRC channel for Writer's Realm.

Aye....Allyson, a chat room is just a chat room. Just...a massive instant messaging session. I don't think there's any way to integrate a blog there.

GothX - hey that's cool. I installed mIRC to test something for a friend, then uninstalled because it confused me XD If other people are into this, it'd be cool to have our own private channel :]

Anyways, what do you guys think of a facebook group? I could create it, run it and keep up with the blog or something...if you guys are willing to join.

I use ChatZilla for IRC operations, but again, if you all would like an IRC channel, just let me know.
