The story is below, once you are done reading it, copy the story and click the bottom link to return to the Scroll Pile and make your story. GOOD LUCK! It was now three days since Elip had left his home, Salamandastron. Though this was not unordinary for him, he had done this a couple times before. The sun shone a shaded light, blanketed by a thick quilt of light-grey clouds. The smoothly made, wooden otter clan boat glided effortlessly over the water. No one was needed at the oars; the square sails had fully caught the mid-sea breeze, which was neither too strong or soft. Elip was sitting with Sonoma, the lady Skipper of otters. They were surrounded by a host of her otter crew who were listening intently to their conversation. No normal conversation, a type loved by both the young and the otter... a bragging battle! They did not notice the gigantic, enormous, green, scaly, back that came from nowhere and slowly swam under the ship. The clanbeasts laughed heartily, it was now Elip's turn. All laughter was held as he bragged to Sonoma, "Ha, ya' think your story was sommat! Well marm, I can eat s'much, if’n I was left in a forest to starve there'd be no more Mother Nature!" The otter crew burst with laughter at the young hare's statement. Sonoma held her laughter, trying to keep in character, which was a savage ship beast. Jumping to her feet she roared in a perfect seabeast type manner, "Yar! Well lemmee tell you sommat, lil' cotton swab! When I was a youngster I ate so much tha' even afore I was born my ma' had to eat eight times s'much just to get me full!" Elip Jumped up, also speaking in shipbeast manner, "Oh yeah matey, wot! Well now ye've spelled yore bloomin' doom. Food is me middle name! I eat an' drink s'much, when I met a big adder in a stream I ate it for supper an' used the stream t'wash it all down!" "Well I'm s'hungry that if'n ye' keep wavin' tha' sword in me face I'll eat it down to yore paw!" "I'm s'hungry I'll EAT yore paw! Hah, then I'll, OOOMPHH!" The boat gave a sharp jerk, all of the otter clan felt it. But Elip, being the lightest, went ear over tail, landing puzzled on his rump. "I say! Exactly what the confounded was that?!" Sonoma stood, walking towards the prow. "I don't know, but..." After seeing over the edge of the tall craft, Sonoma harshly smacked herself in the face, grunting angrily, "Of all the stupidity, I'm an otter for cryin' out loud!" Turning to her crew, who for some reason had not moved, Sonoma spoke shaking her head, "I just don't get it, I thought we had our craft on the right path. Some'ow we've run aground on land. Our prow tip is split in three ways. We'll 'ave to go ashore for supplies to fix it. Elip turned to the stern, resting his elbows on the rails. Suddenly as if in some fright, he jumped up, wiped his eyes, then joined the others who had gone onto land to search for wood. Had he seen some sort of giant back fin swimming away from them? Sonoma was in a rather bad mood, she felt silly to be an otter but getting her crew stuck on some unknown island. She wrapped off orders quickly holding her weapon, a thick, rock-headed spear, in hand. "Glin, Sainc, ye'll stay on the ship to pr'tect it. The rest'll come with me. We need good strong oak or maple wood t'fix the boat, an' lotsa warm beeswax for glue an' coat. I don't like this place, so I don't wanna spin' much time here. Keep yore weapons out, an' be on the ready, let's go!" The band of two score otters, with Sonoma and Elip in the lead, went into the rocky forest of the island. For most it was the first time being on an island, and they wished to explore, but they knew that when an upbeat, fun loving beast like Sonoma became serious as winter on any subject, there was usually a good reason. There was a good reason indeed. The gigantic monster, looking somewhat like a finned T-rex, swam around the island to it's rear, opposite the side that the otter clan's craft had landed. It went into a huge cave, who's ground was a deep sheet of crystal clear water. The monster raised it's massive, primeval head out of the water till' it's eyes reached a high up ledge which protruded out of the cave walls. A darkly cloaked creature stepped onto the ledge from a tunnel. http://s14.zetaboards.com/DABPlayTents/forum/5039/ |
