February 1847 The Reichsflotte has been looking for a company which could provide the arms for its ships, most importantly cannon. When it started looking, they were approached by a man named Krupp, Alfred. He showed the commission his works in Essen, and a 1000kg flawless Iron Ingot. They returned most impressed. Krupp said he would be willing to build artillery but he would need a loan to get a big factory started, preferably near his other works in Essen. He was granted the 1,125,000 Thaler he would need. The new factory would be ready in one year and two months. |
