March 1845 The Prussian Government has increased spending on education by three percent. More schools will be built in Prussian Poland, where it has been decided that Polish will be added to the curiculum in secondary and primary schools, besides ofcourse, German. Also, more schools -primary and secondary- will be built in Selesia. Also the idea of Kindergarten will be significantly increased, and placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Education. It will first be expaded to urban areas, and afterwards it can be seen if it is also a good idea to build these kindergartens in rural areas. Last, a new department of the University of Berlin and Koningsberg will be opened/expanded. These departments will specialise in Industrial works, ranging from the science of bridgebuilding and railroad construction, to Industrial steam engines for use in ships as well as on trains. |

March 1846 A number of Prussian business men from the Rhineland have proposed a number of large scale tax cuts for the Railroads, Coal, Iron, and other heavy industries. This -they argue- would stimulate these industries, which would not only be good for the Prussian economy, but which are also vital for the nations defence. The King seemed very pleased with the initiative. He is -as is well know- very interested in new technology and a improved system of rail roads, mines and and Iron Industry sounds attractive to him. Ministers and their aids have been put to work to see exactly what has to be done. |
